since I can't get this phone internet to download pdf etc., can anyone link me to a reference or tell me the most common infestations/diseases that oyster mushrooms face? Also is it really true that you mainly only have to worry about infestations before the fruiting stage because healthy oyster mushrooms eat mold and bacteria like candy?
Since the person I live with has cats in the house will that fuccck up this whole thing, dammit?

Yes it is true oyster mycelium is very good at fighting off contamination. I still have yet to see an oyster grow get infected, other than with bugs and slugs when they're outside, and I've grown more than a few oysters.
As long as you get your spawn done right and properly pasteurize your substrate (or use fuel pellets and bucket-tek it), you shouldn't have to worry about any contamination.
No worries about cats either.

Once, I had improperly sterilized grains in a bag. To my surprise, I watched oyster mycelium devour green mold and leave no trace.

I've also had blue oyster recover from green contamination on improperly pasteurized wood pellets. In fact, the 4-5 ones that shown contamination all did recover.

Bacterial contamination of psudomonas tolaasii is your greatest threat. Also known as bacterial blotch. In general it can come from too much standing water on the mushrooms, over incubated grain spawn, temp swing during incubation of spawn or sub, or is contracted from mites or bugs.

Interesting. can you eradicate this bacteria without poisoning the mushroom? Or otherwise using a toxic pesticide

Running the grow room drier helps, but the only way to get rid of it is prevention; never letting it start in the first place.
