Nice find.

Those are probably Lycoperdon perlatum, which is edible when the spore mass inside is still white.

I don't really like the texture of the puffball for eating. Too squishy inside,like eggplant i suppose. But they were very white inside and if you liked em there were enough to feed about 100 people.
