I've had a few periods in my life where I would use LSD very regularly, once a week for a fews months. It's best to take a few months off and then return to it. I found I started developing symptoms of slight HPPD and mild "haziness" throughout the week. Nothing too bad, but a break was a needed and healthy decision; and both the HPPD and haziness faded within a couple months. Never really lost the magic, but it's a much better experience when you think to yourself "It's been a while, this is going to be great!" as opposed to "here we go again"

Exactly the info I needed. Thanks!

No worries! Good luck with your break, it's not so bad. It's been 22 weeks (and counting) since I've last dropped and before that it was every weekend for a few months. I'm really excited to get back to it, but I've been enjoying my time off.

It very well might lose it's magic, but not permanently. I took LSD once a week for quite some time, and I required very high doses to get a full blown psychedelic experience. There was a permanent afterglow, which I enjoyed, and HPPD, which I also enjoyed. It was a waste though, in retrospect. Though I wouldn't do it differently, cause that's just where I was at in my life at the time, and it was enjoyable, as well as a learning experience. These days I only take it a few times a year, and that works a lot better for me. The magic is fully there, I don't need much to get the full experience, and I have more life experience to trip on.
When you're dosing every weekend it becomes more like a drug, and it can boring. When you trip you experience yourself. If you're doing it all of the time eventually it'll be the same deal each time, cause there's nothing new to explore. Whereas when you wait months in between, you get more life experience to trip on. You grow/change as an individual, which alters the experience a bit. So I've found that, for me, it's better to dose, put what I've experienced/learned to practice in my daily life, and roll with those changes for a while. Then when I feel that it's time, dose again.

This may be a ridiculous question, but what's so bad about HPPD?

Wondering though, will I "lose the magic"?
Or will something eventually go wrong?
I most definitely plan on taking a break all through September.
There is a potential yes for both of your questions... It is always possible for a bad trip to occur no matter what your environment is, the chances are just slimmer if you are taking LSD in a good environment, and I am glad to hear that you are.
You may or may not "lose the magic", I see that as more of a matter of perspective than anything else. One of the things I have learned from psychedelics is that the wonder and awe that one experiences under the influence of these substances can be brought out in day to day life if the right disciplines are pursued.
Anyways good to hear you will be taking a break. Weekly trials can give way to some very interesting experimentation, but they can wear on you after a while. For me personally some of the (potentially negative) lasting effects are not realized till maybe a month after taking a break. Most can be described vaguely as increased perception of biofeedback in the brain, or an increase in 'noise'/information spillover from different sensory centers. This idea is very interesting when applied to thought itself. Whereas this intensified feedback is experienced visually as seeing snow or static, as well as some tracers, occasional neon/violent blobs/other common symptoms of 'HPPD' etc. , in the realm of thought this neural action is translated symbolically into self criticism, as well as a more vivid perception of the internal landscape. I am not claiming in any way that this is the way it works these are just loose conclusions that I have drawn in casual thought from my personal experience.
The trip never ends OP! Good vibes!

Thank you all for the help.
Luckily there has been really good LSD in town and even though I have a tolerance (or maybe I haven't been developing one) I can still eat 2 hits and be flipped, just like all my friends with no tolerance.
Last weekend I dropped 2 and it was strong.
I think I may have had like 2 weekends off during these two months.
But I am definitely feeling it in my mind, the perceptual change is getting rather strong (not HPPD, just the way I think and look at things).

It's usually mild and in that case it isn't so concerning, but it is possible to develop a case where things are constantly morphing to the point where it will affect daily life.

IME, "losing the magic" refers to something I refer to as, mental tolerance. The first time you do shrooms or LSD, it feels so mystical and magical; because it's so fucking alien and unfamiliar! But after doing them often, you remember the way it feels and it makes you essentially not trip as hard, because you don't feel that mysticism, it doesn't feel alien anymore.
After taking long breaks, your mind is slowly forgetting the small details that make tripping feel magical, and when you do trip again, it'll be as magical as the first trip! Maybe even more so, because at this point you feel nostalgia ontop of the magic!

As cliche as it sounds, sometimes it's better to have some willpower and wait It makes a huge difference and allows the magic to stay.
And thanks for the response, HostDisorder.

I am noticing tolerance after weekly use, its nice weather though, my time off is going to be when its cold. At least there is no permanent magic loss like MDMA.

Yes.

Yes.
Every weekend for months is pretty heavy use, and a one month break isn't very long. You should consider taking a much longer break, or decreasing the frequency of your use.
