Doesn't look good. Have they been in there a long time? Barely crack the lid, does it smell bitter?

Definitely a bit of excess moisture. I wouldn't crack the lid though just smell through the filter. Bacteria smells like sweet fermenting fruit and should permeate through the filter. Looks like bacteria, or atleast the start of it.

Bac smells like a whole lotta different kinds of shit, as many different kinds as there is stuff to contaminate your project, but the glorious smell of fresh mushroom mycelium, ahhhh....

How could you be wrong about your own experiences? How could I be wrong about mine? Sometimes contam smells like sour feet. Whether or not thats bacteria?

Wasn't insinuating I was wrong about my personal experience nor that you were about yours, just that I haven't personally experienced it so I could be mistaken about the possibility that it could potentially smell like something else, Although I haven't heard of it smelling otherwise for anyone else either. The fermenting fruit part can pretty much be considered a sour smell though IMO. Anyone else get different smells for bacteria?

You're just lucky. I've smelled a few different distinct odors caused by bacteria in spawn. Some I could only describe as disturbing I know the sweet smell you're talking about though I've smelled it on bacteria contaminated cultures, never in a spawn jar yet.

Very interesting. I wonder when i'll end up getting some of these other bacterial related smells, although I'd prefer not to be gifted them at all!
