Habitat: Bleached woodchip, semi shaded, at the base of dead cut plants.
Gills: Not sure, may take a sample to investigate if the photos aren't a dead giveaway.
Stem: 3-5cm thick pale white vague yellow blemishes, smooth with slight grain, subtlety bulbous towards the base.
Cap: Fairly flat top, slightly curved downwards at the edges, off-white tan, cracked and segmented, like an old bleached leather couch, or unleavened bread (quite tasty looking).
Spore print color: Not yet taken.
Bruising: No visible bruising.
Pics (click to enlarge)

Nearby mycelium, white with yellow highlights.

Show us some gills. Does not look much like a sub, if that's what you're after.

Yea, i just checked some reference images on wikipedia and I believe you are spot on, they have the same baked bread tan tinge.
I won't eat risk it, but it's likely an edible species, isn't it?

I didn't think it was active just curious as to what was growing, the mycelium has really gone gangbusters at the location.
Might take a sample tonight.

It depends on what you call edible. It's probably edible in the sense that it's not toxic, but not worth eating for the culinary value.
