Problem with longer consolidation time

This is my first grow--10 half pint BRF cakes in a SGFC.
I birthed my first 7 cakes a week to 10 days after full colonization, and they fruited well, pinning in about 3-4 days.
Now, I had read that longer consolidation time leads to faster pinning more prolific flushes. I believe RR has stated that he only recommends one week consolidation because of most new growers' impatience. I decided to let my remaining cakes consolidate for around 20 days. During this time, the mycelium took on a fluffy, cloud like texture. I think it looked very healthy, but what do I know? I'm a newb.
I used a 24 hour dunk and roll for all these cakes.
The 3 cakes that I allowed longer consolidation time have been in the fruiting chamber for over a week and show no signs of pinning. This is, of course, the opposite of what I expected.
What went wrong?

Do you see any hyphal knots? They look like little white dots that aren't fluffy like myc at all.

They look fine just give it some time. The holes on your shotgun look like the're just randomly placed though. They should be in a 2" grid pattern on all six sides.

First off, your signature picture is crackin me the hell up. He's even in the moon!
Secondly, yeah, would be nice to hear Rodge comment on this. I would've thought the same as you did...weird. Whatever happened to em?
Lastly, I like to know what's going on. The 'why' not just the 'how'. ya know? The science behind why 'consolidation' would lead to increased pinning.
Or even a more thorough explanation of 'pinning triggers'... why is FAE the #1, etc. But, good luck finding that info online.

I've seen posts by RR in which he says that longer consolidation time gives the mycelium more time to "digest" the substrate. It's probably incorporating the nutrients into its cells and synthesizing those them into various substances that it requires to fruit.
Also--the cakes just started forming hyphal knots yesterday.
