Straw to worm casting ratio
    #1872919 - 09/02/03 01:10 AM (14 years, 8 months ago)

ok a friend of mine found this tek where u grind up the pf cakes with worm casting to produce a powder sort of like. He tooks this powder and mixed it with straw. After that he mixed the straw with worm casting. He has been incubating them for a while now and out of 5 trays only about 2 show signs of white on the top of the case and its not much, it sort of looks like vains at the top of the casing. Well he is wondering if he might have put too much worm casting, cause this thing has been incubating for at least 2 weeks and he thought the whole top would be white. Also in order to fruit should the whole top be white? Cause even though it is in total darkness there are a couple of small shrooms growing but its only at the places with there white is, if he fruits will there only be shrooms where the white is? Should he go from worm casting and straw to just straw or just worm casting? Any help would be appreciated, my friend thanks everybody in advanced for the help.

Two weeks is way too long to inncubate straw. It should only take about 5 days to colonize. If your new to this than just stick to straw for right now. After you get some nice flushes and successes you should try castings supplementation. It should have colonized quickly unless you had piles of castings in there. Your problem could possibly be too much moisture in your straw.

i think the moisture was too much cause my friend said he used the pressure sprayer a lot, so what should he do now that the moisture may be too great?
