My friend harvested the first flush, excellent fruits. Dunked as normal, 3 cakes came out of the dunking fine, one has a big blue/green vein down it. At first he thought it was just bruising, but it has persisted for almost 24 hours. He has also noticed that this cake seems to be drying out/yellowing at an alarming rate. The fruits showing up on this cake are also scarily dark. The other 3 cakes are appropriately moist and having no problems. Here is his trouble cake:
Any ideas as to what this might be? Should he isolate the cake or throw it out? Any help is appreciated.
well, since it was drying out, i took it and dunked it again. i'm gonna give it a good 12 hour dunk and isolate it in a 2 litre bottle terrarium. the more i think about it, the fruits on there were starting to rot a little bit so i think maybe some water from the lid dripped on there and really bruised it bad.
anyway, it didn't seem to be spreading, and when i went to dunk it, i used a sterilized knife to try and get the blue off, and it peeled right off. sooo, i dunno, i'll see what happens with this dunk.
