Monotub taking forever to Pin
    #18727347 - 08/19/13 12:22 PM (10 years, 5 months ago)

My Monotub, fully colonized, has been in fruiting conditions (polyfill in holes, light fanning, 12/12 6500k light, for 7 days now. There may be some hypnal knots forming, its hard to see. But 7 days, not even a small pin? Is that normal? All i see right now is some yellow myc metabolites. Humidity is high. Droplets on sides of bin.

Agreed. You sure the metabs you speak of aren't just hyphae? They can have kind of a yellow tint sometimes. Does it look like little blobs or like resin? A pic is worth 1000 words

I'll try to take some pics. Little droplets of yellowish colored liquid.

That myc does not look normal to me. It is really fluffy and cottony looking not to mention the yellow stuff. I guess you'll just have to wait and see

I see some brown spots, I'm new myself but if doesn't like 100% colonized. 100% colonization is the number one pinning trigger. Also the metabolizes can be cause you're colonizing at too high of a temperature. What are your temps like?

I say 3-5 days before you start seeing pins. I think I saw some knots in those pics

Jeez. Gonna be going on 9 days.

Misted and fanned, got humidity back up to 90%. Now there's just a layer of water on top.

There should be droplets of water, but no polling on the substrate.

Sometimes it just takes it's fuckin time.....I am playing the waiting game too with my PE.

Killing me because I feel something must be wrong at this point. 9 days in fruiting condition without a single pin. Plus the yellowish brownish stuff

i've got some PE that's been in fruiting for 11 days and nothing yet.  everything looks fine as far as i can tell.  i'll wait to start worrying until this weekend.

edit: day 12.  actually i just looked, i see pins have popped overnight
