Been out of town for a bit and they have bricked over. The thing is some of them have a SLIGHT yellow type liquid in them. I know there is some rumor about mycellium piss or whatever but otherwise they look healthy as far as I can tell. What do you think? These are pearl oysters by the way any idea what they should smell like?

They should smell like mushrooms. They look great -- maybe a bit too long in incubation, but you should dump these jars into your fruiting substrate and see what happens next. You have my permission to go for it!

Yeah those look fine, a little bit of yellow metabolites is normal, sometimes shows up if you let them go a little too long before spawning.

Ok bags are ready to go. Anyone familiar with pearl oyster mycellium smell? It smelled good, but mildly sweet or something? Every single jar smelled the same so I assume thats a good sign, but kind of being paranoid
Thoughts?

Maybe I could say that Hopefully the flow hood wasn't blowing a ton of toxins and mold in my face. Anyone else have an idea.

My pearl oyster mycelium smells strongly of anise to me (black licorice). Maybe I'm sensitive to the smell but it's unmistakable to me... phoenix were the same.

I would describe it as a sweet, pleasant, mushroomy smell. If it was contaminated, you'd know it.

Some wild oysters I find have that nice anise aroma. The one I grow smells like sweet cake frosting, or cheesecake to me.
Almond Flour, your jars look good to go. Oysters are strong. A real contender, so don't be paranoid too much.

Thanks for help y'all....I got I hardwood bags all ready to go! We will see how they do. I have a jar of reishi spawn as well that I was gonna use to practice grain transfers.
As far as reusing jars how long do I need to pressure cook the used oyster jars? Pretend they were covered in black mold....how long in the PC would make them safe?

Just wash them with soap & water and then set them upside-down to dry. They'll end up in the PC again anyway. If you ever do need short term cleaning recommend bleach/water mix. When people do PC badly contaminated jars, its not so much to clean the jar itself, but to kill the molds and keep them from infesting the area. Best bet all around is to have two different areas for growing and innoculating

So true for so many reasons!! Fruiting strains like P. Eryngii at the temperatures that I like to incubate just doesn't work.

You don't need anything special for a greenhouse with oysters. Just unzip the doors and spray inside twice daily. I like the garden pump sprayers
