Question about cloning

Which part is better to clone the cap or stem? And should one rip the mushroom and take a piece of flesh from the inner part so as to avoid contams that might be present on the outer layers of the mushroom?

At the base of the stem, the inside tissue.

Yes....exactly.

Yes, you cut open the mushroom and tear out an inner piece from the base of the stem to clone.

I heard its better to clone clusters rather individual fruits. But anyways, with a sterile knife and a glovebox carefully slice the stem to get to the sterile meat.
Also, don't expect promising results. Good luck!

Why the base? Is it because that has more "growth factors" in it? Kind of like taking a clone of a marijuana plant, you can take a clone from a fully flowered plant, but it's going to take more time to revert back to the vegetative stage than taking one from a young branch of a plant in the vegetative stage?

Likewise, what's the logic on clusters? How would you take a clone of a whole cluster?

I always make a small slit, just on the outside to make a line for the first tear to go, and then I find a rough part in the hollow stem and just tear an inside sample from there

You just take the sample from the biggest one of the clustered fruits. The logic is that some people are trying to get monster clusters, so that is a trait they select for.

Take a clone from the biggest fruit in the bunch...

I view a good cluster as a happy group of integrated genetics. I assume you can clone individuals from the cluster and will happily spawn and fruit together as the family did before.
The key is fewer but multiple genetics. Cloning clusters guarantees happier flushes while something like strain isolation is similar, but usually a shot in the dark.

How is that a load of shit? It's a fact that sometimes a single mushroom can have more than one strain in it, likewise it's a fact that a cluster could even just be a single strain. Even if each mushroom within the cluster is a unique strain you at the very least are selecting for a mushroom that is more likely to get along with other strains than not. That doesn't mean it will get along with all strains, but if you're going for an even canopy it clearly is more likely of a selection than a single large fruit standing alone.

I've heard multiple but fewer genetics usually result with a more bountiful flush rather than using a single genetic.
I'm not disagreeing for I lack 1st hand experience. Share your prof and I'll do the same.
