What are my options
    #18726104 - 08/19/13 06:09 AM (10 years, 6 months ago)

So I nocced up 9 1/2 pints a while back and I checked on em, all contaminated... I know I could be at fault, however this is a homemade syringe from a print I received. I have had 100% success rate with the last time I did this with another print. However most had trich and a few had cobweb. So besides using agar what would my options be? I cannot find agar agar around here il have to check the asian market otherwise but I just think that if I do isolate a clean piece of mycellium I might contaminate it moving it to a jar. This is my only penis envy 6 syringe I have so I dont want to waste it. Would liquid cultures work? Also does ace hardware or menards sell rye berries? I just got a pressure cooker.

Either the print is contaminated or your syringe procedure is faulty.  If it is the print, there isn't much you can do besides work with agar.  If you have half pints you can easily make some serviceable agar with the agar from the Asian food market.

Was there any mycelium that had grown in the jars or was it all contamination?  If there was decent growth before a contaminant took over you could try a down and dirty outdoor bed.

You can probably get bird seed at Ace, or possibly rye grass seed, but I doubt they have rye berries.  Try your local natural foods store.
