I loved Fallout 3 immediately. Hooked me right away and it was the first Bethesda game I ever managed to enjoy enough to beat. New Vegas felt empty to me, for some reason. The guns were cooler and everything, but the world design just kind of felt small and plain. F3 seems to follow at least a little closer to the original games too.

totally agree. whoever said fallout 3 was inspired was very correct. Just the way you're released into the world, one of the most beautiful openings to a bethesda game there is.

I liked that there was more diverse weapons in Fallout 3. there was more all around in NV but it seemed like the majority of them were energy so if you wanted to go a different route there wasn't as many options to choose from.

A lot of fans of the series had serious critism for F3 because they felt the opposite of you. New Vegas was supposed to return to the feel of the original games, I mean that was half the point of NV's location. Bethesda also screwed up the universe's storyline in Fallout 3.
EDIT:
My opinion, New Vegas had highly superior gameplay, but I liked the environment in Fallout 3 better. I honestly can't believe some of you couldn't get into New Vegas, yet had no problem with Fallout 3's beginning in which you "grow up" in the vault. I remember my second play through I wanted to shoot myself in the head for having to replay that part.

My reasoning behind liking fall out 3 more is the dialogue choices were better when interacting with people.

I fucking hated that part. Especially on the 2nd/3rd times.
In general, I really start to dislike games that make you drag on and on in lengthy dialogues and cutscenes and whatever before you even play the game. Sometimes I just want to start playing goddamnit! Cutscenes and too long intros and whatnot kill a lot of good games for me. I couldn't finish Batman: AA for that reason.
Fallout games though, even with some length dialogues and BS, keeps it interesting for the most part, so I don't get too tired of it.
I agree with you though.. New Vegas had better gameplay, F3 had much better environment.
I also agree that F3 had better dialogue choices.

In all bethesda games, there is a part of the intro where you can make a save right before it asks if you want to change anything about your character.
I then later re-load this save every time I want to make a new character, and it gives me total customization without having to re-play the intro

The real hard question is Fallout or The elder scrolls
I think i gotta go with The Elder Scrolls even though skyrim was kind of a let down.

THANK YOU. I fucking hate skyrim, even though I was soo hyped up for it.
I just started replaying oblivion yesterday, but to make it funner (its working veryy well) I've been role playing to the max, making a ton of extra rules for myself based on the article linked below.
Basically, eating 3 meals a day, not fast traveling, sleeping in inns at night, praying daily if possible, sign of atronach, (magicka doesn't recharge) carrying limited gear, not traveling in bad weather, wearing normal clothes in town, light armor while traveling, and full heavy armor in dangerous areas, and have fur for snowy cold areas.
thats off the top of my head, also, not using the map in rain, drying clothes after being in water, pretending to be crippled or needing to rest after intense combat. http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Roleplaying
I seriously recommend reading this, for any RPG really. It just enhances it so much.

Lol ill have to try it out. Im having a hell of a time passing the time till GTA V comes out anyway.
Sheogorath expansion MADE oblivion for me, that was so damn fun. I think im going to go back and play as a magician i always play TES games as a Archer or swordsman. The thing ive always done for extra lols is killing ever member of a certain race that i encounter (normally argonians because fuck those guys)

I've never had the DLC for oblivion
Have you ever fully explored the magic in the game? the magic is what 'makes' the game for me. Every single magic school is awesommme.
And if you take the sign of the atronach, you have limited spells per day (just like dungeons and dragons ) This makes it much more strategic, and more fun.

Get the DLC (ive only got Sheogorath) its fucking awesome its like a whole other campaign full length too.
Ive never even used a magical character, unless you count a paladin type character as magic. Only ever used restoration.

please, make a magic character. With alteration, you can open any lock. And theres just a ton of awesome spells.
AND, you can MAKE YOUR OWN SPELLS!

Ya i gotta try it. The thing that has always held me back is it seems like you would have to pause and change spells a ton. Do you just hotkey everything or what?

yeah dude, even on xbox hotkeys work fine (on computer they do work easier tho) And they are perfect for spells. Theres 9 slots for em too, plenty for most, if not all of the main spells you'll be using at any one time.
And I pause a ton in that game anyway
The magic system in skyrim made me SOOO sad. But let me explain fully.
The way magic 'works' in the game, i love. The dual casting, the wards, the flow of sparks spell; everything about the way it works/flows in the game engine i absolutely love.
The thing I HATTTE about skyrim magic is, there are VERY few spells compared to other elder scrolls games. And you can no longer make your own spells

Oh i see what you mean, I thought magic seemed a lot cooler in skyrim myself, mainly because of dual cast. It does seem simplified. Most of that game was dumbed down for a wider audience and thats why i didnt like it that much. Plus the dragon battles were just annoying.

And the wards for mage on mage battles, did you use them? One hand offensive spell, other hand defensive ward. Basically sword and shield. Made for epic magical struggles.
I too hated the dumbing down, it killed it for me. I mean, there aren't even any normal stats, like strength, intelligence and whatnot. Only health, stamina, and magicka. :fuckyoubethesda:

You really shouldn't hype up games man, I didn't follow Skyrim at all and I fucking loved it. I felt oblivion was really bland, even now, going back, it's just really lifeless for some reason. Im playing Morrowind now too, and it's so far and beyond Oblivion and Skyrim imo. The amount of content is ridiculous, the story is crazy, the level design is genius, and once you have a class that works for you, even the gameplay outshines them.. Why did they ever get rid of Mark and Recall?? My god, those spells are amazing. My current character is a thief and I can set tactical teleport points during battles, set traps and steal peoples health, it's so gooood lol

It's really hard to take your opinion seriously when you say oblivion is lifeless. It has way more depth and life than skyrim by far, IMO
I dunno how you can even say that. Hundreds of NPC's have unique dialogue
