Self-induced rapid onset of psychedelics?

Does anyone ever ingest a dose, and seemingly feel it almost immediately after ingestion? I know that in most cases, people will start to feel things around the 30-45 minute mark, and that was even the case for me, until somewhat recently. I have been noticing now that when I am ingesting these substances, I can't help but be nearly over-whelmed with onset effects instantly. Note I say nearly over-whelmed. It isn't a feeling that severely inebriates me, however it is a new feeling to me that I can't seem to wrap my mind around. Does anyone else experience this sort of thing? I am almost certain it is all self-induced. Could I be developing some sort of anxiety towards my doses? All thoughts/inputs are welcome.

I've experienced that before, but in retrospect I'm almost certain it was my mind superimposing the experience early in anticipation of what was about to happen. In a pharmacological sense, it's impossible for it to kick in that fast (depending on method of administration of course). With mushrooms, I know tea and the lemon tek can increase absorption rate. How well the shams are powdered/chewed also plays a factor in how fast it will hit you, but even then I can't see it truly taking effect any earlier than at least half an hour. On average for me I usually wont notice much until past an hour after ingestion.
DMT on the other hand.....

Yeah, I mean I used to have the normal onset times with these things until recently. It must be self induced anxiety or something. The funny thing is, is that when I'm there I'm fine, but going up is the hard part. Now that I think of it, I have this same problem on rollercoasters. I love rollercoasters, but the initial tick-tack of the chain underneath the car being pulled up the track slowly and gradually is what really makes me want to implode/hurl. Once the rollercoaster drops and takes off I'm always like fuck yeah! Hands in the air even. I hope this paints a good picture of the feeling I am feeling. Nice to know that someone else has felt something similar. I just can't seem to take doses like I used to.

I feel the exact same way, with drugs and roller coasters. Anticipation is a bitch, eh?

I always feel like that when I drink. After a sip I feel funny and of course it is psychological but I can't seem to get rid of the feeling.

I can't drink for that reason. I feel sort of sick initially all in my head, and then eventually I really do end up sick. Never saw the fun in that. Now, that being said, I can also enjoy a drink. Experiencing the way the mind works is a trip in itself, I'd say.

Yes, I get that, but I'm almost sure it is caused by a massive spike in adrenaline. Think about it: you may have been anticipating the dose for a long time, you have had to do something illegal to get it, you are anxious about the intensity of the trip, and you finally actually lay the dose on your tongue (or otherwise ingest). Boom: big spike of adrenaline.
<rant>
As an aside, I am coming to resent the illegality of these substances. I mean, really - I'm a totally upstanding, adult, tax-paying citizen in all other respects, and this particular substance has been arbitrarily deemed illegal while other less useful, more damaging substances are perfectly acceptable. Not to mention that the consequences of getting caught are extreme and far-reaching. What gives??

It's to keep masses brainless. A smart mind is dangerous.

I know, I know... Sorry to get us off track. My vote is for adrenaline and I might be willing to place a side-bet on placebo effect. What is the earliest you'd say you can get the first inklings of a "head change"? It does seem like it can come earlier than the oft-quoted 45 minutes. I'm talking about dosing in the normal range. I've been reading the thumbprint threads and they all pretty much say the effect is instant, which makes sense given the quantity ingested.

I'm the same way, I used to love to get shitface wasted, but after playing around with marijuana (which I no longer take) and shrooms (which I LOVE), I see now that all alcohol does is make you stupid and dizzy for a bit. There are no life changing revelations, beautiful colors, reliving of long forgotten memories. I might still drink with my friends sometimes, but I much prefer a social low dose shroom trip and I think most that have tried them would agree. Sorry, I just realized this is wayyy off topic, but yeah I'd say it's just placebo.
