Can I salvage this grow? (contam)

I'm growing in 8 three gallon buckets. One of them has a contam, I think.

Is there anyway to salvage it? And if not, if I pick the pins, are they unsafe to eat if they haven't been in contact with said contam?

Where do you think you have a contam? If it is contaminated, then there is no way to salvage it you would just have to throw it out. I don't see anything that screams contaminated to me. If you are talking about the little white dots, they look like hyphal knots to me.

Yellow is okay. I remember you saying that you had pooling water. <<<< This is probably the cause. Metabolites are not so bad. Try fanning it a little more, and, if you're misting, lay off a little bit.

Word up. Thanks guys. I was hoping I was wrong about it being a contam because it happens to be the bucket with the most pins.

Here's the thing though. I know you can't really see it in the photo, but there's also some green on top of that yellow.

Well if you want a better opinion then take a picture that reflects how it really looks.
Either way, if it really is green, then definitely isolate it. If it has spread within a period of 1/2 a day - 1 day, then move it outside. You can probably still get a first flush out of it due to the fact it's already pinning, but you don't want to increase the spore load in your grow area.

This is the best I can do. It's a cell phone cam and the flash blocks out some of the color.

I can see it just fine.
You can try to get a flush out of it. But you are correct, that is a contaminant and it is certainly going to affect your grow.
See if you get some fruits on the first flush and then toss it.
Looks like your grains had a problem.

Not sure. All of the grain was mixed together. Is it safe to consume fruits grown out of a contaminated substrate?

I came home only to discover that unfortunately I've got two more contaminated buckets on my hands. It just sounds pretty dangerous to be eating mushrooms fruited from a moldy substrate. Does anyone have any experience with this?

If its not green and there are just pools of water with yellow..it should be just fine.
Pics so we can verify if they are contaminated or not?
I would suggest, ease up on your misting and increase your fanning.

The first and third of those are from the same bucket. Not sure about the white patch, but like I said, it shares a home with the contam in the first photo.

Hmm, yea I would say not good for the first and third picture. Middle pic looks like its just metalobites. What are your temps looking like? You wanna try to keep them at 69-76.

Metabolites, even with the green on top? The temp is probably in the mid 70's. Room temp. (room temp is fairly warm at the moment).

I can't see the green in that pic. Looks yellow to me. First pic I can see green..second pic looks fine. Let it grow out a couple more days then see.

Lay down a salt paste over the green. This should slow it down enough for you to salvage a flush. That being said the green your seeing is the mold sporulating all over the place. the longer you leave it like that, the more mold spores are being jizzed out all over your grow space.

How do I make a salt paste? Also, just ripped this from another post:
RogerRabbit said: Forget the salt paste. That's for if you see a dime sized spot when the flush is nearly complete. It might buy you a day or three to finish picking.
When you get mold at or before first flush, your spawn was contaminated or the bulk sub not properly pasteurized. You need to toss it out now and start over. You might try setting it in a shady spot outdoors with the lid off, to finish. The fruits from it will be fine, but you need to get it out of your house. RR
So is it too late? Also, while I can't necessarily put anything outdoors, I can put them in my garage. Either way, there will be a lot of bugs around. Wouldn't this be a pretty big risk as well? And also, are these molds really that dangerous? (Not doubting RR obviously. Just looking for more input. Admittedly, I haven't spent as much time reading up on contams as I should have. Just wondering what the hazards are.)

Yeah its probably trash tek time for this one. Most molds as far as I know are fairly harmless, but some are not. No matter what having billions of mold spores being released in your grow area is never a good thing and you will want to get anything that you can't salvage out of there asap.
