Okay, This is the second time i got a broken pc off of ebay. I ordered an all american pressure canner like 2 weeks ago for $165. That was my first mistake. I just wanted it to work. It had a weird bolt in the back right behind the handle...i tried to use the pressure canner and all it did was leak pressure from the bolt. The bolt looked like it was sealed in the middle with liquid nail...and upon further inspection i think it was. I asked on the forums what i could do and they suggested that i might be missing a vent pipe and pressure regulator weight, so i ordered the parts but they don't fit because of the bolt. It looks like the hole was widend and the bolt was added, since all the wholes on the bottom of the pressure canner look the same except for where the bolt was....which was bigger and wider, when i looked at the bottom of the lid. Before i email this guy and bitch and ask for my money back...is any of this normal? Maybe i'm paranoid after getting a broke pc last time on ebay.

When I ordered a PC on ebay it was broken and its the reason a friend and I aren't growing shrooms anymore. We had BRF cakes going, but we decided to expand to grains and we needed a cooker but it was broke and BAM.
That's when all the problems started. Now I have to buy shady 8ths from dealers.

A shop could drill and tap it pretty cheap and $165 after shipping is steep. bitch like hell about it.
$145 after shipping is what I paid for a new one last year. the 921X I just bought on ebay was a little over $200+ was missing the cover for the guage worked perfectly and had little use. I got lucky. there are alot better deals out there than you find on ebay and your less likely to get screwed.

I am a big fan of the presto models, the older ones, like the 7, 7-b, 21av. not the newer ones that have the gauge right in the center of the top, but the older ones that have the gauge in the front of the top and the overpressure saftey plug in the center of the top. -ar393

The little bolt that you are refering to is the overpressure plug. If it is leaking, the pressure cooker/sterilizer had been overpressurized at one time and the plug blew out. All you have to do is replace the plug with a new one. Do not try to drill it out and use a solid plug, this is a safety device put there so you can't blow up your kitchen. The interesting thing, is that they are supposed to leak constantly a small amount when working properly. The all-americans have a pressure gauge, so if you can reach pressure with the leak, don't worry about it. Just add more heat! Once you reach the pressure you desire, turn down the heat a little bit (to like medium). Wait a minute to see where the pressure settles. If it is too low, turn up the heat a bit, too high, turn down the heat a bit. It just takes practice. good luck. puggy
