Had a friend go out picking and found a whole bunch that looked damn similar to P. Cubensis he took about 5 grams after drying them and not a thing happened. Any other species they could be?

Haha, you two are going to kill yourselves pretty quick if you don't get stuff properly identified before eating it.

There are several different species they could be... Many of them poisonous.

Never eat a mushroom before you get it identified! Can you give some details about the mushroom? What did it look like? What color were the gills? Spore print? What was it growing on? Where was it found? It's important to give as much information as possible.

Love how even though I explicitly stated that I didn't take any, everyone assumes I did. I don't plan on eating any shrooms I don't grow myself but the point is, my friend found some that he found some that he thought were P.Cubensis (He has found and taken wild cubes numerous times without issue) but nothing at all happened SO are there any non-toxic lookalikes it could have been?

Stropharia Protostrpharia semioglobata maybe.
Would love to see a picture of what he is finding.Quote:

I assumed it was your friend who ate them since you said.

I hope you are not taking his word on an ID of the Protostropharia since he doesn't really have a very good track record of IDing mushrooms correctly.
He should go find another of the same that he ate and then post it here for us to look at.
Either way, have a nice day.

No I'm not but he just says it seems likely but yeah I'll try and get some pictures off him if I can but he's fine 3 days later so it's more of a matter for future reference. You too man

FunkyBuddha,
The problem is we have no idea what might look like a cube to your friend. We see some pretty wild-arsed IDs here, and many people post pictures of 'cubes' or 'liberty caps' which are mushrooms that to most people look nothing like a cube or a liberty cap. Do you see where I'm going?
In Australia in mid winter you'd be pretty bloody lucky to come across a cube anyway. Not that it can't happen, it's just unlikely.
Yes, there are poisonous lookalikes, it all depends on what you or your friend's concept of a look-alike is. If you don't know much about mushrooms, many things can look like cubes. I was writing a list, but given your previous post asking about look-alikes to grow in your parent's house, I think not.

Oh, it's funky buddha, asking what are psilocybe "lookalikes" so he can grow in his parents house.
I remember your moderator-deleted thread.
Perhaps you should tread lightly, friend.

I just really hope you plan on being more careful with wild mushrooms in the future.

Who cares if he made a thread that was deleted. Happens to a lot. This site is for questions. Sometimes folks don't read the rules and ask the wrong questions.
Just tell them that they broke the rules. Don't threaten them and tell them to tread lightly. Especially not in the MH&I forum. We do things nicely as we can around here.

And you, just relax and quit ganging up on a new member. People make mistakes. He came here for help. Sure, his friend made a dumb mistake but you don't have to badger this guy for it.
And this guy does not even have his jimmies rustled after the two of you talking shit.
Those ratings you both gave are unfair as well.
We have a certain way of doing things here and you guys are effing it up.

I don't respect people who try to grow illegal things in their parent's house.
Go take your pedestal somewhere else.
