Straw blocks

So i was thinking if it is possible to incubate and fruit straw in the same container such as this-> I know about the logs, but i find em taking up too much space and unable to case. The box would be lined with black plastic, straw would be layered with grain spawn and then compressed by the lid. Upon full colonization, the top would be cased with peat/verm layer and blah blah. Now, should i drill the box itself to provide for better GE since its gonna be wrapped in the black liner plastic?

How many flushes do you find these to be able to push out? See, I'm trying to figure out how to beat cased rye trays. Rye is capable of flushing 3-4 times, each flush being very consistent for me. However, for bulk it's quite pricy and labor intensive. So I started with straw logs, now trying to get straw bricks+casing going to see if it fruits and flushes better. Your Coir tek seems very appealing to me, I'm gonna have to give it a try. Thanks for the link btw. Cheers

Do you think you'd be able to flush them more than once or twice if placed in a greenhouse with automated humidification and FAE?

Also, how do you protect the substrate from contams? Rye casing has 50/50 verm/peat + lime that protects it.

Monotubs don't go in a greenhouse, they create their own humid environment. The tek is not mine but it is a great one to follow. You protect it from contams by pasteurizing the substrate. Just read through the tek it will explain most of what you need to know, and the search function here can really answer almost any question you have, you should take advantage of that. Oh and yes you will get a larger yield from your spawn using a mono instead of casing.

that container depth looks too low for a monotub. for better success find a tub that higher, it will help create the proper climate for the mush.
Coverup any hole during colonization of myc, you don't want FAE in that container. After full colonization plug the holes with polyfill. Follow the tek and you'll be golden

Apparently you can use this Tek for a greenhouse grow too, says so at the end of the write up you linked to me. What do you think about this?
