So i had a friend with a few horses and i got some really dried up horse manure. I got a 5 gallon bucket full worth. Took me 10min to find it all.
I also got some really dry cow manure. The horse manure is more "grassy" than the cow manure. The cow manure is more harder and clumpier. The horse manure falls apart real easily. Here are some picture of it although my camera phone is shittyyy. like 2 mega pixels i think. lol.
What do yall think? This is the horse manure. I figure i dont even need the cow manure. I might try some though just bc. I have plenty for what i need.
Also, it does have little stick and leaves, little bit of fresh grass, and it does have little bugs. I saw a little beetle and ants. Do people separate that shit or just pasteurize all of it. I can pick out the big stuff but a lot of it is little. Its mostly horse manure though, 95% for sure.
Also, i have hydrated lime and crushed oyster shell. Would that do good in my bulk substrate mix? im going to pasteurize it tonight and let it cool overnight. thanks guys.

I let my hpoo saturate for like an hour. Once you do that and during pasteurization the hpoo will break up into like a thick soup.
I didn't really follow a tek. I took a 5 gallon pot I had filled it like 3/4 full of hpoo filled it with water and let soak for an hour then turned the heat on brought it up to 140 and let it pazteurize for an hour. As I was soaking I also added cut up straw to the mix... like a gallon worth not compressed. Basically just eye balled it until I had a nice mix of poo and straw I was happy with.
Also I'm using 18 gallon tubs from Wally world the 5 gallon pot I'm using gives what I believe the perfect amount of substrate at about 4 inches. Which makes things a lot easier... 1 tub, 1 pot and I used about 4 or so total quarts of wbs spawn. I actually used 7 which my PC can hold but they were only half to 3/4 full.
