a question about care for just sprouted peyote seedlings
    #18719247 - 08/17/13 02:59 PM (10 years, 5 months ago)

Hi once again fellow Shroomerites! I planted a bunch of 5 year old Lophophora Wiliamsii seeds and did not expect them to sprout. Well, 2 weeks later I have a bunch of seedlings. how do I care for these guys? i.e. how much water, light, when to fertalize...etc? Many thanks again, PM

The seeds were 5 years old? That's pretty cool that they sprouted. Don't worry about fertilizing them for at least a few months, after which you could use something like a 2-7-7 liquid cactus fertilizer at half strength every few weeks. As they get bigger they can take more, but pushing them too early can cause problems. You can use fluorescent lighting or indirect sunlight at first, direct unfiltered sunlight can kill them if they are too small or not acclimatized gradually enough. If using artificial lighting, a 16/8 schedule works pretty well IME. You also want them in high humidity for the early stages. I keep them covered for the first two or three months usually.

My fridge is about 38F which is About 3C but anything below 5C or 41F will work. Just be sure to keep them in an airtight container, maybe with a silica gel pack. Hope this Helps. PM
