When "soon" becomes a relative term

Set and setting were ideal for this test of first impression. Wife and daughter far away, son in another country on vacation. Therefore, there was no family member to stop by unannounced - usually to do laundry and/or drink my beer.
50 mg of 1 : 1 changa (25 mg DMT freebase equivalent) was vaporized 30 minutes after downing this shot glass of harmala alkaloids which I had salvaged from the funnel and glass tray which I had used in the final step of extracting the alks from P. harmala seeds this very morning. Waste not, want not!

The setting was my #1 favorite place, poolside adjacent to my wife's flower garden from inside the cabana to the pool, with the french doors thrown wide open. I was seated on the ratan couch, nestled in its pillows, table to my right, with a square, cushioned hassock in front of me. All of this becomes relevant in a moment. After a brief period of calming, cleansing breaths, the moment came. Reminding myself to "simply observe" I put my fears behind me and with two long, slow pulls on the glass vapor genie the changa was completely consumed.
In less than 60 seconds, the peak experience occurred. The exterior (which was already brightly sun-lit) became almost painfully bright. The swirling pool water roiled by the filter outlet jets was absolutely mesmerizing and stunning in appearance. Bright, rainbow glints seemed to boil up from below, pile up and interfere with one another in a crazy diamond-glinted multi-colored dance. The water movement seemed unusually confusing, chaotic, random...and as beautiful and moving as any starry night.
Reluctantly, I closed my eyes and the exterior scene last observed S-L-O-W-L-Y pixelated and dissolved into my favorite part of the trip (or so I thought at the moment) the colored, gracefully morphing, fluid, impossibly shaped kaleidoscopic fractals. As these waned, I opened my eyes and was able to observe the clock. Seven minutes had transpired...so far, not that unusual except for the unusually slow and graceful fractals. What came next was the surprising part.
Even surfaces - walls, ceiling, and particularly, the hassock pad were covered in NON-morphing two dimensional fractal patterns. These complex, fixed patterns were absolutely fascinating! The walls had one pattern, the ceiling another, and the hassock pillow a third pattern. I greatly preferred the pattern and complexity superimposed on the pillow, and spent the next five or so minutes trying to fix the image of the "pillow art" in my mind. Interestingly, patterns could ONLY be observed on even surfaces. Looking out into the garden, no patterning whatsoever could be detected.
The garden environment as a whole seemed to take on a whole new meaning. I could sense the importance of the flowers to the mad number of bees and butterflies that flocked around my wife's butterfly bush. The oak trees "told me" they could speak to, and be understood by each other - their branches and leaves acting like vocal cords when the wind passed through them. Only people altered by plant-based psychedelics can hear AND understand them; otherwise you merely hear their sounds without any sense of what it represents.
The entire experience lasted 21 minutes, and I would estimate the crescendo and decrescendo were EACH prolonged. I kept telling myself each time I looked at the clock...this has GOT to be over soon... The afterglow that often occurs also seems to be lingering. In short...it was a worthwhile experiment.
Much love,
N.B.

I know that feeling all too well, and enjoy every second of it.
Glad you had a great experience! It sounds like a ton of fun

I'd have been hard-pressed to have a bad time on such a gorgeous day in such a beautiful setting with such an awesome molecule.
Sure, DMT can be an ugly bitch at times, but luckily for me, not today. I'd hate to have it go south for such a long amount of time - cause you know how it is. One minute can be an eternity - never more so than when the trip sucks.

Great descriptive report.
Do you ever experiment with high doses? You write great reports but they are always low dose reports from what I've seen. I would love to read what you have to say about high dose tryptamine sessions which is how they should be used imo.

Let me put things in a bit of perspective for you. I'm old, and no longer particularly courageous. Gone are the days when I would sky dive, climb a tall tree, or even scuba dive to any great depth. I try not to even get on a tall ladder or walk around on the roof of my house anymore unless there is some compelling reason.
Higher dose tryptamines are for you young, invincible kids. I've had my share of high-dose adventures (see the interview done by Leary_fan) that had some pretty life-long costs, so I'm gun-shy - MAJOR league.
Every once in a while, there is a misfire and I go too far too fast, but it is never intentional. So, to answer your question, no I don't intentionally experiment with high doses, but sometimes I do have accidental ones! What do you think is the meaning of the cartoon in my signature???
