ID request?
    #18718165 - 08/17/13 08:52 AM (10 years, 5 months ago)

I found this on a patch of grass on the road side and I suspected it maybe be active because it bruised blue very easily, I am aware that blue does not necessarily indicate an active mushroom.

Gills:
Color, attached/not, gills/pores, etc.

Orange pores

Stem:
Length, diameter, color, texture, hollow/solid, thin/thick, etc.

Up to 2", 1 1/2" thick, yellow stem covered with black staining, orange near cap

Cap:
Diameter, color, texture, conical/spherical, convex/concave, etc.

Up to 5", yellow/orange, smooth, flat/wavy, slightly convex but mostly flat

Spore print color:
turquoise

Bruising:
Color that the mushroom bruises, if any.

Very quick, very pronounced blueing when bruised or broken

Boletus. Blue colour doesn't come from psilocin oxidation in this case.

Also suggest its not eatable...

Bolete of some type... As mentioned, not active

Not all mushrooms that blue bruise are active
