monotub questions, experienced help needed!

So after reading teks for every possible way i would like to verify the information.. so i line the bottom of the tub as if it was a tray, and then leave it sealed while the substrate colonizes then i remove the tape covering the few holes and polyfill them. Do i fan or mist at any time?the materials I have are vermiculite, perlite, straw(hurray for hay eating rabbits!) wild bird seed, gypsum, spent coffee beans, can get pop corn, but no pressure cooker. What would be the best combination to use? Last question is off topic but if i make my own syringes does the amount of spores cause the speed it first starts to colonize?(ex: i use a teaspoon of spores mixed into water vs one caps worth of spores) Thanks in advanced for the help!

Sorry to inform you, but you can't do monotubs without a pressure cooker.

Yes you can
OP, use BRF and verm cakes as your spawn.
Grate them or crumble them into your substrate come spawn time.

No, it will just make more competing strains present.
Increasing the number of spores on the plate does not make them germinate faster.

Yes you can.
Spawn BRF cakes to bulk....no PC needed.
But you need one for grains.
OP get a PC.

So I was wrong... But like hacker said you need one for grains, and I was under the assumption that the optimal monotub is made from grains and a substrate. I believe colonization times are shorter also because you can shake grains... It's kinda hard to shake a cake. The more you know.

You can use a cheese grater on cakes to shred them....same thing..

BRF cakes are grain-based...
Grating the cake should provide as many if not more inoculation points than the same amount of colonized WBS will

I think I got it now.
PC-free mono is a little different I guess. Do you have to let the brf consolidate also or no?

No, the longest way around a circle is the outer edge. Once that is colonized, you are golden.
Consolidation is only beneficial when you are fruiting the cakes.
Dunk the cake and then spawn to bulk

Sorry to jump in, but dunk the cakes then spawn to bulk? I thought you're supposed to spawn to bulk without dunking?
I'm planning on colonizing some BRF pint jars and then spawning to coir/verm.

How many 1/2 pint cakes would I need as spawn?

I plan on filling a ziplock bag with cooked brown rice and then sterilizing it in the bag and soon after just inoculating it directly through the bag so its easy to let it colonize then break it up in the bag and follow a monotub tek using that. Magicman it should be 50% spawn or more to reduce contam risks from what ive seen on teks. So a half pint of spawn for the half pint of coir/verm and so on. I suggest you look it up your self though, i am only a beginner.
