First flush from first cakes - can these be saved?
    #18717680 - 08/17/13 03:53 AM (10 years, 5 months ago)

I think I have misted these too much, my FC hasn't got a screen to stop the mist hitting the cakes (yet).  So I have this blue flush which I think is probably mould, should I bin these cakes or is it worth continuing??

Id say as long as they keep fruiting, go for it.

Prolly cut back on misting a bit though.

Did you put perlite in the cakes?

No, I followed the BFR cake 2-1-1 recipe as closely as I could.  Did I miss a trick there?

You shouldn't harvest the tiny dormant pins, assuming there were some there to begin with. They may start growing in later flushes.

Thanks for the replies and tips guys

I had read somewhere that all fruits should be removed at the same time but I can't say how good the source was.  To be honest the small pins were generally around the bases of the big fruits and came off surprisingly easily one lump.  I'll try being a little more selective for the next flush.

Dunked and rolled after birthing, these pictures are after washing them off ready for dunking again.
