a drawing of some mushrooms in a big eyeball

Here is a drawing I am working on.
I decided to use it in a design project that I had to hand-in before I could finish, so I cropped it.
I'm posting it now because I may never finish it because I am a lazy person.
I know it is a unprofessional, cliche', juvinille, schoolbook-doodle, immature piece of shit drawing by your standards, but I don't care because I like it and I am going to put it on my wall.

"I know it is a unprofessional, cliche', juvinille, schoolbook-doodle, immature piece of shit drawing by your standards, but I don't care because I like it and I am going to put it on my wall." I hope you're being sarcastic. That is awesome.

That is awesome.
I know this guy doing a fine arts degree, He's sold over a $1000 worth of paintings in the last year. He pointed out to me why it is a shit drawing by contemporary standards, and it made alot of sense. I would repeat what he had to say, but it'd take too long.
I'm not really a contemporary art fan; some of it is ok, but i dislike how every era of art is in response to the era before it, and frequently against it.
I figure the majority of people at this point in time prefer contemporary art, because if they didn't, the movement would not contemporary.
So by 'you' I ment 'the majority of people at this point in time'

I don't think it should really matter what other people 'think' while expressing you're creativity/imagination through art..There is no 'proper' way to do it. That is what makes it original. If people like it, great. If not..At least you do. I'm glad you decided to share your art with us

Art is subjective.
-------------------- What if everything around you Isn't quite as it seems? What if all the world you think you know, Is an elaborate dream? And if you look at your reflection, Is it all you want it to be?

I like both of them very much...you have an interesting style already, so keep with that. Don't try to change your art to please others.

*snip*
$1000 in a year? No offense, but my mom has easily made more than that in the past 2 weeks doing artwork with no degree in a town of about 700 people. That isn't very much money. I'd suggest you keep on doing what you're doing, it looks killer and I and many other members would buy prints of something like that if it were available.

Thanks for the support man, $1000 NZD is like $500 USD which I guess is fuck all, but hes the only person I know who has actually sold anything. Have you seen any of hieronymus bosch (thanks turd ) or pieter bruegel? It's pretty good. I think I like that style of art more than any else. The complexity makes it look as though the artist put more effort into creating the art, as opposed to some more modern art. here is a painting by Bruegel which is pretty groovy, I can't remember the name of it, I think it was painted sometime in the 16th century.

excellent work!
breugel was a genius, but his work disturbs me ...
so as far as he would be concerned, he's done his job with me, though i prefer the more blissful pictures i tend to draw, rather than the scariest hells one can imagine
