Simple open air innocs will work, its just not the smartest thing to do. But if you're in this hobby for a while and plan to go agar work, G2G transfers, cloning, etc you need to use a sab or hood.
Also you should skip the alcohol wipe on your syringe. Just flame red hot and inject. The first few drops from your syringe will quench the heat.

I'm only using ms inoculations right now... I will still take the normal precautions of closing windows, turning ac off, long sleeves, pants, gloves, mask, shower, etc., because I like doing that ritual, but I HATE working in a small ass sab... Thanks

If you're doing open air innocs there's no need for showers and all that jazz, just flame and inject.

Room temp/cool to the touch
But let me reiterate, I don't advocate such.

Flaming the needle and then wiping with alcohol isn't good technique. When you flame the needle it is sterilized, but wiping with alcohol can actually reintroduce contaminates on your previously sterilized needle.

I beg to differ, agar ( I'm sure you know who that is ) uses alcohol only open air inoculation technique and has great success

My husband and I use open air inoculation. We just spray lysol ALL OVER the room, put on our mask and gloves, then go in to inoculation.

I don't know who that is and I'm way too lazy to search him up. Some people get away with things and some people don't. I'm just saying that when a needle is flamed, the needle is sterilized and wiping the needle afterward with an alcohol wipe defeats the purpose of flame sterilizing the needle.

I see where you're coming from and appreciate your input. That's just the way many people ( from what I've seen ) and I have done it for the longest time

Wiping with alcohol between jars is a good way to introduce mold spores into each jar, always flame sterilize between jars.
How are people who have been here this long still giving shit advice?

I'm sure he was working in much better conditions too, most of us are working in our dirty ass living spaces (also I'm sure he has alot more experience on which corners can be cut).
Open air inoculations will work with certain inoculation techniques in certain environments, but for someone without experience its best to work in a $7.00 still air box for best success. I've gotten away with open air G2Gs in the past (as an experiment), but why risk it?
