Will mushrooms always consolidate a bin before fruiting regardless how unevenly you distribute them?

I don't want to waste spawn testing this, but I was just curious. Say for instance you're doing a monotub and you just dump the grain all on one side and the substrate on the other. Since there are multiple strains in there will they all still work together to consolidate the bin or will it possibly start fruiting before consolidation? Obviously that's only one pinning trigger, I would think the lack of fresh air alone would prevent it, but since this isn't commonly done for obvious reason I was jwing. Anyone know?

The answer is yes and yes. If have spawn containing multiple strains all on one side of a tub and bulk substrate piled on the other, all the strains will work together to colonize the far side. However, chances are very high you'll have contamination on the very far end of the bulk substrate, and as a result the spawn and the portion of the bulk substrate which ahs been successfully colonized will fruit in desperation.

Ah, ok, well thanks. The last bin I did I mixed it up rather thoroughly, but I left big chucks of unbroken up myc with the thought it might recover faster. Not the same as my question above exactly, but you don't think it'd be a problem would you? It's been a few days and it seems really healthy so far, it just occured to me it might be counter to what I was going for and actually take longer to colonize though due to that. I have noticed in the past that if you leave big gaps of unmixed substrate the myc tends to become more rizomorphic to cover it and doesn't take too much longer, but I've never consciously thought much about it till now to be sure.
