Basic questions about the humidity chamber.

Years ago when I read up on mushroom cultivation, what I remember is the fungifun.org method, which is an attempt at making growing mushrooms as simple as possible and involves a simple container with a bag loosely placed over the top. Requires manual fanning twice a day or something. And then there are the methods that involve a few holes in a closed container and an electronic humidifier inside. Last I remember the most ideal humidifier device wasn't being made anymore and it was considered a score if you could find a used one. And then there are shotgun chambers which have a large number of holes and allegedly have superior air exchange. Not sure if electronic devices are used for them.
I'd prefer not to have to fan manually, but as I'm going to be setting up my grow outside, I'm going to need some type of portable power, so I'd appreciate recommendations in that area.

You should go with bulk spawn to a monotub. Minimal maintenance and no need for electronics besides lighting if you are going to have lights.
Otherwise a shotgun is a good solution if you are going with cakes.

Fruiting chambers don't work well outdoors because they need controlled indoor room temperature and environment. Outdoor grows are done in the ground under the partial shade of some vegetation. Simply water with a sprinkler as required. RR

And in a very humid climate, I assume?
@MHBound, in the brush somewhere.

Doesn't necessarily have to be a humid climate although it certainly doesn't hurt. Dryer climate would require more watering

Is it possible to go straight to a casing?

You mean inoculate cased bulk substrate with spores?

Not necessarily "bulk", just inoculate substrate prepared as a casing in a fruiting chamber.

Bulk substrate doesn't mean "growing in bulk"....and as for your question...no...you will get contaminates every time like that...usually trich..you need to creat your spawn in a sterile jar or crumble a colonized pf cake....

It gives your mycelium a HUGE head start on contaminates that are waiting to germinate...once you mycelium has control of your substrate...nothing else will grow on it...
