The company I work for is now the largest float tank center in America. For the second year we are again doing an international float conference.
This year in particular is looking pretty badass so far:

I was really skeptical when they said they were going to make a 6' salt pyramid, but blimey they did it.
Anyways I thought it was pretty neat what they are getting up to, and am extremely grateful to be a part of it.
My part to play is working crazy hours in the shop getting all the conference goers to float and meeting people from around the world interested in floating and those who own centers of their own.

That's awesome! You're at that spot in Portland? I pass through there every once in a while and have been meaning to stop by for a float.

I've always wanted to try a SDC, or however you want to refer to them. Unfortunately in my area, they are relatively new, over priced, and booked out for weeks to months in advance.
I almost want to just invest in making my own. I have a history with plumbing and construction, so I couldn't see it being too outrageously hard to create your own.
In your experience, being a part of the industry, what do you find is a fair price for a 4 hour session? This is something I've really wanted to get in to, I just want to know it's worth the investment.

4 hours?
well, we do 3 1/2 for $80, so I would say you could realistically also do 4 hours for $80 if your scheduling worked as such.
I will sometimes have people double book late night floats which are each 2 1/2 hours long, plus transition time. So, if you double book that you get 5 1/2 hours for $120.

Thank you for the information!
The nearest float tank to me does it in 1 hour, 2 hour, and 4 hour sessions, hence why I asked about a 4 hour session. And from speaking with them, they charge $30 an hour, so $120 for a 4 hour session.
I imagine that once it becomes more popular in my area, and more places are offering the services, that the prices will come down and be more reasonable.

$30 for 1 hour is a rather good deal.
Our standard is $50 for 1 1/2 hour, and we are the cheapest around the area.
