Vented or Un-Vented Petri Dishes?

I want to get into some isolation work with agar.
I was shopping for some affordable petri dishes, but do I want vented or un-vented?
Also what is a good size to work with?
I don't want to wind up with something too small to isolate sectors in.

I've only just started using agar myself, but i've been using the non-vented. I seal them with parafilm so i guess it doesn't really matter either way though.
I can tell you that the non-vented work fine...

I can't seem to find anywhere to buy the segmented "Y" dishes.
All I can find are the plain ones.
I need to find an economical place to buy these.

You want some GE.
Vented is preferable.

Im from the uk and found them online ...School Science type shop, cheaper than any i found on ebay.
The 90mm "y" dishes i have been using for initial transfers, but i also picked up some single compartment to have a play with. I think i will find it easier to make out any sectoring on the single comp. the y plates are great for taking plenty of those first clean up transfers though...

I love Y-plates, it is all I ever use anymore.
I run through at least 25 of them a week during busy times of the year. It saves me tons of money on materials and tons of space too.
But for the small grower, it may be more practical (and easier) to use single-sections.

Here are some stackable y plates @ 5 bucks a 25pk... (+shipping but with discounts on larger orders)
If I was you I'd either go with the above link @ cynmar or try to find some cheapest on ebay.. Buyer beware there though as your never for sure if your going to spend a few weeks fighting for your cash back, or if you get a outstanding deal... (I just got a box from eBay and week or two ago that was trashed... but I got my money back right away and probably netted a couple of hundred usable (sterile) dishes for free. (The rest had torn sleeves))

I was hoping that the non-vented would get a little ge due to the lids not being a tight fit. Lol, still think i got it abit backwards though... I should have prob have got the vented, would definitely have ge and would have no concerns as i was also wrapping with parafilm.... All good fun
