YES I dumpster dive, and YES it'\ is dangerous 1

It's not only dangerous for your health, but could be dangerous for your freedom. Take a look.
So I decided to go out on an epic ride tonight. Yes I am riding a bike to get in shape, and a ride it for miles and miles almost everyday, even though I got a car for my birthday not too long ago.
And yes, I am an expert on how to stay out of trouble and find good scores. Just always be aware and know when and where the opportunities are.
Some dumpsters are always watched by cameras and some are not. SO be careful because it could be trespassing charges.
BUT! I've never been stopped, driven up on, or asked about my actions, because I always go dive and get out in a good manner.
BUt, if I ever did get stopped by a cop, I'd ask them how many bodies have been dumped in dumpsters, and never discovered? I'd also show them my score, of some good fruits and vegtables, and sometimes rare odds and ends.
THAT'S RIGHT. I dive the dumpsters for just a few fruits. Many companies throw out hoardes and hoarde of good edible food, because one or two of the items in "the bag" have gone bad, so they throw the ENTIRE BAG OUT.
FOr instance tonight, I decided to ride all over the place, on my little beach bike, but I scored two bags of CLEMENTINES from CHILE and also two bags of ORANGES and two bags of LEMONS!
All of this fruit was fine, besides minor cosmetic injury/blemish.
Anyways, when I hit the down hill on my bike ride home, I didn't account for all the extra weight in my backpack, and like a giddy girl I howled as I spun in and out of the main road, where cars normally drive twice as fast as I can ride or more.
I hit top speed getting back into the area where a river cuts off and I literally felt my bike lift off the ground.
That's right people, I got air, and if I were to bust a flat, I'd probably been really effed up. But with my adrenaline pumping I soared into home alley with nothing but an amazing story to tell, of which only one tenth I've shared here.
Anyone else dive the dumpsters?

many times with great success.
my only real concern was possible contact with bacteria on the outside of the packaging, so I would usually wipe my hands and the packaging down with disinfectant wipes before removing the loot from said package.

This is genuinely inspiring. I don't know if I could do this on my own (nah, of course I could, I'm st1llnox) but in grad school I'm definitely going to start a community--if there isn't already one--of dumpster divers to glean the free, perfectly good food of businesses from which haste makes waste.
I remember getting free books from the dumpsters at the elementary school I grew up across the street from.

I don't dumpster dive, I walk around through the front of the store and just rob them. It's way better, and you can actually get what you want, not just whatever's... "leftover"

before anyone quotes that dumbass post again, do you know that grocery stores are required by law to sell food out by certain date or it gets disposed off, and that they push to sell the freshest items en mass, so that the standards never "unintentionally drop"; in turn wasting perfectly good and healthy food by throwing it out in the garbage, where it could possibly be used to be sent to shelters or something? regard this post, before you quote that dumb shit post up there.

My neighbor has a pickup truck and he's always scrapping something--copper from tv's and wires; aluminum, stainless, etc.
Funny... I also veered into traffic today on my bike. I thought that the incoming lane had a red light, which they did not. Close call.. a car steered right around me.

I tried this once at a whole foods and nearly gave the employee a heart attack, not to mention myself one. I was trying to get to the bottom of the dumpster where I noticed the pastries/cookies and what not in a bag.
Then someone comes out the back so I drop down and the lid falls making too much noise. I heard the dude go "Damn raccoons, your gonna get yourself killed in the morning" he walks up and opens the lid and I popped out like Oscar and he screams, so I scream, he runs and so I run.
Never have attempted it after that. Always thought about it though. Whole foods throws some dank stuff away.

No one is going to report you for flaming and flagrantly belittling people who quoted a perfectly natural post.
This is a place for discussion, so.. IN essence, I a, sorry you are having a bad day, but there's no reason to break the rules/
If you would like to add WHY you are so upset, and WHY you think it's a dumb shit post, then, maybe the pub can understand you better?
ANyways !
You (other) people nailed it on the head./ It's all about profit and keeping the freshest fresh, even at the cost of starving people, right here in America.
Thoughts?
I plan to add more details later

Well man, its definitely not for me haha
I'd get grossed out by garbage and generally try to avoid dumpsters except maybe peeing on one. Stay safe dude Enjoy the "fruits of your labors"
Serve some to some house guests and then bust out the: "Hey guyz I got these fruits from a dumster downtown, they were next to a rotting fetus, but don't worry, they weren't touching"
If you're down with it, of course its all good man Saving what would be gone to waste is a positive
