Will mycelium wick moisture from the bottom of a tray?

Will mycelium wick moisture from the bottom of the tray somewhat? First attempt at trays and I have them in a SGFC and got little tiny mushies due to a very wet substrate. Searching messages and examining my substrate has led me to believe this.
Anyway, if the mycelium pulls moisture from the bottom a little, I'll hold off misting for a while, if it doesn't pull any or hardly at all, I'll mist ever so lightly in 12-24 hours just so the surface doesn't dry out.
I was misting lighter than my cakes but I guess not enough. Much bigger learning curve with this!
-------------------- A bit expensive but the largest clear tote I've found. Great if you want a large SGFC that can easily do both trays and cakes. If you decide to go all out on a SGFC, be sure to get coarse perlite. It keeps it cleaner and allows better FAE and humidity.

Is your SGFC up to specs. If not junk it and start over and drill your holes correctly if it is correct lay off the misting for a day or 2 even. Your SGFC will wick out some of the moisture as well as the substrate.

Ok...ty... so I'm guessing the top surface wouldn't dry out after a day or 2 of no misting if the substrate was waterlogged? Even if it did, I guess it wouldn't hurt to learn how long it took to dry out. Taking it to both ends (dry/moist) is a good way to learn the extremes and thus misting better.
My SGFC is built to specs.

ty...
I did a little search on bottom watering... but shame on me, obviously not enough.... I forgot that violet did an extensive post on it.

Here are a few of your problems. That is not a good space for a sgfc even with a fan you don't get correct air exchange. You need to have it in a more open room and about a foot away from the wall
