Found a neat little mushroom in my backyard. Identification?
    #18709301 - 08/15/13 02:06 PM (10 years, 5 months ago)

Found this mushrooms growing in my backyard while I was mowing.
It was growing with a few others and I only picked two. They have a lot of gills packed together and they were found in East Tennessee. What type are they? I might cook them if they're edible.

Hey sorry you haven't got any replies, I'm not sure what this is. I'm looking at Entoloma right now that seem pretty similar to what you have.

Did you do a spore print?

Filling out a proper ID request can get your mushrooms ID'd faster/more accurately, here's the link: http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/5731447

No I haven't done a spore print. In order to do one I just need to take the cap off and put it on a piece of paper until it drops the spores right?

Yes, but you may wish to use foil instead, cheaper and you can see light colored prints just as well as dark ones.

I'm waiting for the spores to drop now. Do you know if these mushrooms are edible?

Depends on your definition of edible, they probably wont make you sick, but probably will taste bad too.  Some people do like eating mushrooms in the P. cervinus group though.

Could it possibly be psychedelic? I'll have the spore print soon for you to make sure.

I read that Pluteus Cyanopus is psychedelic.

Yeah but that is not a Pluteus cyanopus, caps way to light, cyanopus usually have a dark grey cap fading to the margins, gills always seem more pink on those from what I have seen too.

Yeah, but you can save yourself the headache in a situation like this and just say, fuck, its a "fawn mushroom." One of those medium to large stature smooth and tan-capped Plutei that everyone wishes were active. Lol.
