Slant tubes question

What size slant tubes are best for keeping cultures in?
Also are centrifuges and slant tubes two different things, or two names for the same thing?

As for your first question it has been asked many times on here and the consensus seems to be the bigger the better. Just utsf for more in depth info. As for your second ques well I think so but I am not sure. I am still learning all this stuff too

A centrifuge is a tool which spins at high speed to separate materials with different weights.
Use test tubes with at least a 25mm opening or it's too hard to get the cultures out. I use 25mm X 125mm for short term use and 60mm X 250mm for long term storage. RR

I assumed they were referring to centerfuge tubes which I think are just regular test tubes

Thnx Guys! I think knowledge must be light because i feel illuminated!
I guess my last question would be, are glass tubes better than plastic ones for keeping cultures in longer?

They are not better or worse.
I prefer PP5 (plastic) tubes because I do not like the rubber vacutainer stoppers. I like the snap-down cap.
If you get plastic just make sure they are autoclave-able.

I've never had nor heard of such an issue. I keep hundreds of PP5 tubes in cold storage. They work great.

For cubes, keep them in the fridge around 40F in an insulated lunchbox (to protect from temp swings).

May i ask wat one shud use to cut/get cultures out of (25mm or larger) slants? A scalpel with a specific sized blade perhaps? Also forgive my ignorance but shudnt smaller sized slants be used for keeping cultures long term since there'll be less air space which i assume wud be more ideal for keeping cultures in long term? Im asking becuz u said: "I use 25mm X 125mm for short term use and 60mm X 250mm for long term storage."
