I've noticed this before as well.... I don't think I really even know what "silence" sounds like.

i have heard what sounded like giant, high powered fans in total silence while shrooming. it was during a trip where things weren't going so easy. i somehow got it in my head that i would be arrested and filmed for the show "cops". it kind of sucked for awhile.

I hear shit all the time when its silent... I know i'm tripping so i'm not scared.. I know there is nothing weird going on... GUZ I AM TRIPPING.. You find it weird that you don't hear it when your not tripping??? Why??? Doesn't that make it clear that THE TRIP causes you both to hear it???
Relax.. And repeat after me:
There's no such things as ghosts... There's no such things as ghosts... There's no such things as ghosts... There's no such things as ghosts... There's no such things as ghosts...
And, don't go nuts go snickers..

Did you ever read "True Hallucinations" by Terence McKenna??? He discribes this sound in great detail and had some really interesting theories about it. You should deffinitely read it! That sound is one of the major subjects of the book.

You really should!!! It can change your life! I never heard the sound myself, but after reading this book, I really want to hear it. By the way, it's a very cool book to read, trust me, even if you don't like to read.

It's a very common occurance, along with other strange phenomenon. Read the "physical effects of mushrooms" in the experiencing mushroom FAQ.

d00d, thats the sound of your brain bleeeeeeding.
actually, when i've been in complete silence sober, like in the countryside, lieing in bed, you can hear this kinda sound. at first i thought it was blood in my hed, but it was a constant flow, not like how blood is. i like to think of it as your brain whirring maybe, or molecules flying around, or mebbe just the wind or something. no clue what it really is. you can hear it when there isnt complete silence, but you have to really clear out your mind and stuff (meditation is good stuff man).
so yea, mebbe its the same sound, but since yer on shrooms, and yer senses are heightened, its louder?

One time I was coming down from a nice dose of HBWR. It was dead silence and then this cool strange dark acid psy-trance started to play really loud. I couldn't get the music out of my head for like 3 hours. The song always kept changing and morphing.
It was the coolest psy-trance I ever heard play. I wish I could of recorded it. I love how the brain work's .

OMG i had this happen to me on weed acouple weeks back but thought nothing of it, ive never goten any kind of hallucination off good pot, but this weed gave me some auditory hallucination slight ones like i would hear far of music or singing that seem to come from my mind i had understamated the amount of weed i smoked, but anyway, i was in the kitchen and the house is in complete silence when alof a sudden... the only way to explain it is to say the silence got really loud. It was sort of real loud buzz, but in knew it was silence i almost had to cover my ears and it didnt go away until i ran downstairs and turned on the TV. strange.....

"the only way to explain it is to say the silence got really loud."
heh yeah I've always percieved "silence" as very loud and "darkness" as quite bright.
