Thanks Joust, I might try and get a few more photos and do a better spore print if I can find some more in the same place (about 150m altitude)

I'm gonna go ahead and say there not libs. Also, it's a good idea to attach the pictures to your actual post instead of providing a link as you could be trying to give us all a virus!

Hi Hibernia,
Although very familiar and part of the same family I would say those were 'Psilocybe strictipes' regularly confused with the Psilocybe semilanceata(have a quick google and look) but similar habitat so keep on looking!
-------------------- I laid in a field of green grass for four hours, going "My God, I love everything." The heavens parted, God looked down and rained gifts of forgiveness onto my being, healing me on every level, psychically, physically, emotionally. And I realized our true nature is spirit, not body, that we are eternal beings, and God's love is unconditional 'n' there's nothing we can ever do to change that. It is only our illusion that we are separate from God, or that we are alone. In fact the reality is we are one with God and He loves us.[/gradient]

Thanks for that salopshroomer2013. So P. strictipes has less of a nipple than P. semilanceata? Any other distinguishing features? I'll keep looking anyway! Don't think the temperatures have been consistently low enough here yet (NW Ireland). Was out this evening around the same spot and found nothing

P. strictipes is just as good as semilanceata, so it doesnt matter really.

Seems you're right Moi, according to this page referring to the species as found in the US, P. strictipes is significantly more potent than P. semilanceata.

I was going to say pretty sure I've eaten those ones in the past, haha, usually found them in the same field as the standard liberty caps. So people are finding them already then? I need to find a new location and start hunting soon, its been a couple of years since I've gone, unable to currently grow so I'm going to be out there with the rest of you.

Very nice , did you make that bed or just come across it by chance?
Its a smallish patch I found locally in oct 2012. Seems like a much smaller flush this season though , I may need to feed it this winter.

Me too, it looks so familiar to me Sometimes if they get dry, they take a bit of time to change the color back to brown when it rains. I have seen ones which after drying up and getting wet again did not get the snotty brownish texture on the caps again.
Ok so now, since you do have a Lib , what you need to do is go smell it (if you still have it)and remember what it smells like. Next time you're not sure - you will recognise this aroma, trust me. This is what I've learned during my 1. season. I actually like the smell and taste of libs and never been truly sick after them.
Good luck picking!
Weather has been lovely during last 12 hours, hasn't it? Everyone is moaning but all members of shroomery community have been jumping of joy today seenig all the rain!
Seriously forum, I wish everyone some MASSIVE hauls this year! I think over the next two weeks it is going to get more interesting!
Peace. And psilocybin.

They will fruit up until the first frosts. The frost kills them.

Not necessarily the first frost, the first deep frost yes but if its just a light one it won't do too much damage.
