What part of the country (no specifics please). The North, Scotland and Northern Ireland look promising. The Peaks are still a bit dry...

I may have found 1 or 2 liberty caps but wasn't 100%. Going to wait another 2 weeks at least before i check again. There wasn't even many other mushrooms about... this is in Ireland
Im in the west Fran - they've been popping up here and there for the past couple of weeks. Really hard to spot them after the rain, they're brown when wet and hard to see amongst the brown leaves and browning grass...have to get my 'super-mushy-eyes' on to spot them!

Any word on the season in Wales?
I've been out the last couple of days and there seem to be hardly any mushrooms of any type at all around where I am, had a couple of days rain though..

Hi
Newbie here - I have been looking at this site for the last 2-3 years with the plan to give hunting a go but for some reason I just never get anywhere. I found it all a little overwhelming with the different mushrooms and seem to have some mental block in taking it in due to fear of getting the wrong ones (blame my american science teacher at school (this is like 30 years ago) who gave us a horrible tale of a family who all died except the Granma (who had gone for a nap) as they had eaten the wrong mushrooms they had been picking that day).
So any help would be appreciated - however if anyone would be willing to take me out and show me the ropes that would be really appreciated as I suspect that is the only way I will learn - I live near Cambridge but would be willing to drive somewhere else.
Not after anyone else's patch and does not necessarily have to be for Libs - happy to just learn more about shrooms.
Cheers for any help in advance

Well I don't really understand the reply thing either, though I am tired!
Actually apologies as I just read the rules:
8. No asking for hunting partners. The Hunting Forum is for learning, sharing, teaching and identification purposes. If you would like to request a hunting buddy, send PM's or make a topic about it in the Gathering Forum. You will gain access to the Gathering Forum after being a member for more than 60 days and when you have reached more than 100 posts. Posts announcing mushroom events and official group forays are permitted; please don't take groups of people picking psilocybin mushrooms.
However since it has taken me 3 years to actually sign up and post something I think it will be a long time before I get to 100 posts (and surely that just encourages stupid posts).

Belfast, and yup, prob the largest i've found to date. The stems on some are bigger than the length of my hand. The caps aren't as meaty as some i've found before but they are huge by comparison still.
Temps here are 16c day to 11c night so still quite warm and not a massive amount of rain recently but I did get em 400m above sea level where there is plenty of boggy land.
Soft Hands: I believe you're allowed to organise hunting buddys in the gatherin forum.
Question: I keep find shrooms that look just like liberty caps except the cap is a likttle flatter and they tend to be found growin from/very close to very old cow pats. You wouldn't notice the dung unless you got down to the soil level and noticed the thin mud-like layer. Are there any Lib variants that can feed off dung? Or can very old dung provide a suitable habitiat?
Nevermind, convinved it's just Stroph Semi's.

My farmer can be seen zooming around spraying from the back of his quad- it's against nettles and thistles, the bane of sheep-pasture. Seems a bit late for it, mind. They normally do it mid-spring. What it might do to mushrooms, I don't know.
Yes! The farmer by me was doing it on his quad too, holding this hose coming out of a plastic drum thing whilst driving. Thank god it wasn't nitrates!

Edit: So I tried to upload pictures to this post but I can't seem to figure out how...I was able to upload them to my gallery, anyone care to help me add them to a post?

Just left click on the code under the image. It will then say "copied" Then you have to paste the code on your post. You have to copy and paste them one at a time though, I think.

Any luck? I've just been out to some regular sites in South Wales and it's still too dry and warm. I found 2 small dried up libs in about 3 hours. Think I'll let it get wetter and cooler before I try again.
But on the right day, I should get enough for the year!
