Cool, i found quite a few, but now they are all gone, will these likely grow in the same spot next year, i picked them mid November when the leaves started falling from trees

Yes its a possibility .. Check it out next season but start earlier  Chances are the spot was fruiting weeks before you found those.

Nice Golf Course finds well done, some say they are weaker or even impotent according to something in this thread) from golf courses. I call that out as probably bollox or eating the wrong mushrooms. The mushroom genetics decides whether Psilocybin and Psilocin is present, not the grass. Unless they are subject to chemical changes from man made introduction of impurities in the soil, there is a slight chance of that when landscaping is man made of course. What is interesting is that maybe there are natural non man made field close by with libs in. I would hunt around cause then they will be likely growing nearly organically.

I do not know how long it takes for a golf course to become colonized by liberty caps if for example it was downwind so the spores blew over from some ancient pasture locally.I am guessing many gold courses are not 300 years old.

The oldest golf course in the UK was since 1864 apparently so I guess the libs spores were either on pasture before the courses were built or flew there on the autumn breeze. Nice thought. Check out surrounding fields/pasture land for sure.

I'm glad you call that bullshit because I share the same opinion as yourself. What differences could there possibly be from field to field that have an effect on their overall potency?

Amount of nitrogen in the substrate has been suggested as a possible factor with regards
to amounts of tryptamine in liberty caps (Høiland/Rasmussen/Christiansen, 1981). This
was mentioned in relations to a study of the compound amounts in P. semilanceata found
in various locations throughout Norway.

As far as I know, though, no further studies were made on this exact matter.

Guys, hand on heart here.. I think research among hunters and consumers should be done on this because at the beginning of the season I found 40 in the local golf coarse.. brought them home and had a fantastic trip. However, when I revisited the golf coarse they were mowing the grass more than regularly because I think they knew what I was up to..
Then my mate went to the golf coarse and picked 195 Libs!
Brought them home delighted with his finds and we used the whole bunch, our pupils were gigantic however no trip not even a mild buzz.. it was the strangest thing.. 195 libs!!!
I usually pick from fields and I use about 40 to 100 libs and always have a beautiful trip.. but the golf coarse ones were definitely tampered with, there must be some way they can do this!

From what I could see today, it looks like autumn is officially on the way out and the winter weather is now kicking in. For anyone that's still considering going out and picking, I'd recommend b being quick about it. Chances are, you'll still find libs since it's only beginning to freeze over but it won't be long before they vanish again for another year!

Depends where you are. In the far south (coastal areas) the season can last alot longer as they typically suffer less harsh temperature's. The sea breeze is good at preventing frost's.

I belive the season is at an end where we are (West Mid's) due to the freezing over night temp's over the last few weeks. Thats not to say that there's none out there (there may be a few) but my spots at least are done for another year it seems :frown:

After having no success this year i had almost given up hope.
with a job and a family its difficult to find time to search for new fruitful locals in Cambridgeshire. Last year i was able to get a good batch from a fruitfull and yearly reliable field in Hampshire were i used to live. The owner even gave me permission to pick there. Unfortunately when i went back this year after picking a good day to go( 4oC night 10oC day,) i found the field full of horses and the ground pretty damaged and no mushrooms of any kind at all.
Yesterday i was coming back from working in Plymouth and did a diversion through the moors. I managed to find 50 big yellow libs in ones and twos and a few fresh libs as well.
