Joie said: Sometimes I've found libs everywhere and sometimes nowhere, but in the course of learning about the nature of everything and enjoying whatever gourmet treats I come across I find it doesn't matter very much if I do or don't pick a stash of libs, and I get some foraging satisfaction out of most of my walks. If finding libs was easy I might have missed out on all that.
I was writing from the point of view of someone who had never 'done Libs' so that is where I was coming from. This was my second year hunting for them, albeit I only tried about 5 times each year, but did cover a lot of ground.
If I had come across Libs before then I would not mind so much- I would know they are 'out there', somewhere. It's just a bit frustrating when your primary purpose if thwarted.
Most of my searches were on public access historic/archaeological sites so I got to see some places I have always wanted to visit, and there was little if any bother about straying onto private land.
Finally I appreciate the countryside and getting out in nature and even getting out of routine, so all in all my experiences were good, though finding almost no Libs worth talking about was disappointing, to put it mildly. Hope to try again next year, and meanwhile I look forward to going to the Netherlands where most of the foraging will be done in an urban environment! PS It's been good fun to read all the interesting people out there, over the last couple of years. Hope to post of Psychedelic experience part of forum later.

Went out for a wander in my usual field today, not very hopeful given the very low overnight temperatures and a couple of groundfrosts. Voila, picked around 60 (some chunkers as well!) in around an hour. There were pins as well. Still, given it will be subzero here (right down South!) tomorrow night, I don't hold out much hope.

Flyinghighs pics are still doing my head in.. they look a lot like libs but there is soemthing a bit worng with them. They look just like these one I found in the new forest.
I really thought there was nothing like libs. I know a proper lib when I see one but those have left me a bit stumped. Flyinghigh did you bin them?
Just to add my spots seem to be empty pretty much. Going very cold tonight.

My Lib finds this season .. About 2000 per tray so a good year + 1000+ all ready consumed, lol
Will go easier on these, i want them to last now

Is any one still hunting? I know the frosts are setting in but they don't seem to be a permanent thing just yet.
The urge for me to go out again is huge, despite what i all ready have. I love it haha. Might make one final trip out tomorrow for an hour just to see whats going on

What an awesome haul Bubbles85. It sure looks like those will keep you going for quite a while!
Out of curiosity, have you weighed them all up to find out what kinda weight you're going to be looking at?

Yeah I think weighing is the best way for large numbers, I picked so many massive libs & so many small ones that calculating how many I have isn't anywhere near accurate, also when dosing weighing is the only way to be accurate finding your sweet spot I feel
I'd guess that's about 200g going by the sky box in the backround & what I've weighed myself this season
I may check a field this weekend, i'm going walking anyway and it's a bit hard to not go where you know there may be some libs

Nice little bunch of em..

I think the frost did them good, we had like a small bit of snow here, I went hunting about two days afterwards and there were loads!

Thanks guys, it's been a great season. I'm unsure on weight at the moment as i have no scales.
I definitely need some, so I'll pick some up this weekend and let you know. I would be more than happy with a 200g dry haul
8itlove, nice Libs are the ones in your second pic growing on dung?

Be quick bud, I'm in the West Midlands and the season's end is drawing in fast.
Checked a spot this morning that was still fruiting heavily about two weeks ago and found 10 lonely, scattered, frozen mushrooms. There all gone. Good Luck

Finding some real juicey ones after the frost! Umm, no they were just growing out of the ground.. that field has produced more than it ever has after the frost! Are you talking about the second picture of my signature? Cause the picture really makes it look like Stropharia Semiglobata, but it was definitely a lib! it was the biggest palest one iv found, but i avoid plenty of Stropharia on my trails and im certain this was a lib, dried the same and Shes already been eaten I have a couple more pictures to upload to!
