Some pix from yesterday, this field seems to be tapering off a bit as no massive clusters just the odd few scattered about, still filled 3 tubs with healthy specimens tho so not too shabby
Don't think i'll be going out hunting for libs again this year as got enough to last me more than a lifetime, gonna head back into the forests now, all in all it's been a majestic season

This was my favourite single pixiehat of the season

I went out this morning, frost every where, first of the autumn where I live.
Still found a few, about 140.

Found a few massive libs.

Libs mate. The shape is influenced by many factors like humidity, length of the grass, temperature etc. I have found many libs like that. There is a very slight chance that it is Ps. Strictipes but only microscopy can tell.
Ermm... no they're not, no bruising. Most likely Deconica.
These Deconica (if they are) are the most lookalikey to a lib I have ever known. It's disconcerting, to my knowledge this lookalikey has not appeared on this forum before and this year people have found many looking like this including myself, at the time I was pretty sure they were libs but unless I am 100pct I leave them which I did. But still concerns me and knocked my confidence a bit.
I went to one field at weekend which has never been a very prolific fruiter but normally has a few. Waterlogged and empty.
Found around 100 about 4 miles away, though these appeared to be from an early left over flush as they were pretty dry and there was maybe 1 new tiny lib per cluster. I cannot help but think there will still be a few more to be found as the numbers I am used to in some spots have not been found at all. It's possible they are being picked though that could explain it.

Well, it's with disappointment that my first post on The Shroomery is a negative one.
I have been on several searches in my immediate local area between late Sep and now and have found a total of 8 libs
Not to worry; I've been reading up on home cultivation and have been amassing supplies to facilitate that. But that's for another forum section, I suppose...

It's been a wicked season. Gonna hit the hill for what will probably be the last time this year. Fully stocked but just fancy a look ;-) Wish me luck......

I know the feeling. I put a lot of footwork into this season, and thought I had some pretty good locations, and went out at 'correct' time of year, weather etc.
The amount of Libs I found was pretty inconsequential, like trying to get drunk on wine gums! In the end I just became completely discouraged, reading about other peoples success, and wondering why Libs were so elusive. There is only so much tramping around fields one can do, without becoming frustrated. Well that's my experience anyway.
Will be in Netherlands in December so hope to do some truffles there, legally, and for once I will know where to go instead of walking around like a lost soul for hours! Hope to report on Psychedelic part of this forum on my experiences.

Sometimes I've found libs everywhere and sometimes nowhere, but in the course of learning about the nature of everything and enjoying whatever gourmet treats I come across I find it doesn't matter very much if I do or don't pick a stash of libs, and I get some foraging satisfaction out of most of my walks. If finding libs was easy I might have missed out on all that.

I'm pretty confident that I could've found shrooms if I'd spent more time looking carefully, but I have to prioritise the use of my free time. Especially when outdoors.
I do a lot of training and when I'm walking about in fields with my head down I can't help but feel I'm wasting running and cycling time.

Hiking is good for calfs and quads, it's also good stretching. During 5-6 hours of hunting you do hundreds of squats and lunges. If you have hills to go through it's a wrap for the legs. I love hunting on days off-training.

Yeah. Walking for several hours would be a good form of active recovery on "rest" days. However I can't commit to 5-6 hours at a time due to family commitments.
There are thousands of acres of prime lib habitat all around me. I'll continue to keep a keen eye out until the frosts take hold properly.
