Do I have this correct?
You were upset at a landowner for allowing his horses in his field?

Libs are still growing and quite easy to find still so the recent frost didn't have much of an impact...

Flyinghigh said: Hello hunters, went out today to a field I had some luck in earlier in the week to find the farmer had allowed his horses in it! I was not impressed, anyway I went out a bit further afield and came across a small field for dog walkers and horses etc. not exactly what I thought looked like lib territory but anyways I found what I presume to be p.strictipes...Well only two of them, I would have just passed them off as a Mycena species if I hadn't taken a closer look, they looked like wet libs, and they had i transluscent nipple but weird shaped caps can anyone else confirm or comment on what these are please? Here's the pics the last few are of them drying they dry like libs too!
 Any helps great thanks,
Also any word on these? Maybe some chanterelles or something?

Like I said any helps great, thanks guys
Peace out
The first ones look like Deconica. Did you find them growing directly on dung? Any bruising?
The second ones are not chanterelles.

Hey duggstar, no they wernt growing on dung just out of the grass and I haven't noticed any bruising, it was the colour of them wet that made me think p.strictipes, they looked exactly like libs apart from the shape they also had the gooey membrane/pelicile so...and they have dried exactly like libs what do you reckon?

I don't think they're magic but I'm not sure what they are. Maybe one of the TIs can help you. Take a spore print and create an ID request thread.

Libs mate. The shape is influenced by many factors like humidity, length of the grass, temperature etc. I have found many libs like that. There is a very slight chance that it is Ps. Strictipes but only microscopy can tell.

Hey guys this is my first year searching, walked sooo many miles but still haven't found anything, unlucky this year i guess.
late October i went to a cluster of cow and sheep fields that had loads of different types of mushrooms growing, just no libs unfortunately. went back a week or so later after a light frost and there was hardly any mushrooms at all.
i thought this might be to do with the weather getting colder but it seems people are still having good finds so decided to go hunting again but in a different area. this time i was walking through sheep fields which were all on a south-facing hill...but barely saw any mushrooms of any kind, let alone libs.
also should probably add that im in the south east.
is it still worth going out again this year? and if it is should i go back to the locations ive been already or change it up and find some new places?

If you are in an area known to have them, my first immediate suggestion is this: walk slower, and bend lower. If the grasses are tall, part them gently as you go. If season is late; look specifically for the tall, dense tufts, as they buffer temperature drops as well as retaining liquid moisture and humidity.
When hunting small terrestrial mushrooms in moderate to heavy cover, remind yourself that if you're covering very much ground, you're probably moving fast enough to be missing things.

They look good. It's not uncommon for them to occasionally lack a discernible nipple.

Ermm... no they're not, no bruising. Most likely Deconica.

im not in known spots, this is first year searching and dont know anybody who goes foraging, so trying to find spots of my own. i have seen loads of mushrooms, just not libs. there were some that i thought looked close but had them identified otherwise.
its pretty cold tonight so think i might give up the searching till next year and hopefully be a bit luckier

By area; I don't mean specific locations as in fields or meadows, I mean geographical regions known to be within their range, though If you are even hopeful that they may occur where you are, the same advice applies.
If somebody had given that advice to me, I wouldn't have realized I was standing all over them the firs several times I found them.
