Truly a magical day today.. I brought Zeppelin and Hendrix on a hunt with me, some cows ran at me again but I got away just in time. I reached a beautiful hill and met a family of Coprinus looking adorable as usual, also lots of Coprinopsis Atrementaria around there.. and big clusters of a mushroom I cant identify.. im so upset I didnt have my camera. That hill is something from a fairy tale.. mushrooms of all sorts in abundance sitting peacefully. But this beautiful hill is a hill that I wished libs grew on a previous hunt because there is magic in the air at that place.. and my God.. I started screaming yelling and dancing to the tunes as clusters of beautiful libs came in to vision. My best find so far.. I was ecstatic, unbearably so. Before all my finds were few and far between but with persistence I managed to get decent yields ... this was a city of libs man. 50 to 60 on that one hill, truly beautiful looking specimens to.. so cute. I made my way further in to another field and found a couple of straddlers.. and a few on the way home... this is the most amazing thing to be a part of. LIB LOVE <3

Weather Libs grow or not one must admit that where they tend to grow is inspirational in itself.

Joie, I managed to post an ID request, however, I'm not that proficient with the use of this site, so I'm sure I've done something wrong! I managed to get a snap of those mushrooms blueing, although it's not as clear from my phones camera as it is to me eye in natural light. Anyway, it would be great if you could check it out! Peace

Found some nice big libs today, a great amount of cap shape variation as well.

At the bottom, Bolbitius titubans and Agaricus sp., and for the last ones gills pls.
Looks like Clitocybe geotropa from the top. But I'm guessing you already realise that and want to see the gills for confirmation.

Hi all, was up in the peaks today getting absolutely shat on by the weather! I wonder if you could help me identify these large mushrooms, they seemed to me to bare some resemblance in colour or shape to libs. Thanks in advance!

Think you've got a mix of species there. Don't see any libs.

corsyadid said: I was out hunting for libs this evening in a new spot, ideal conditions. However, the mushrooms I found here don't seem to quite fit with the libs I've been picking, although they do appear to be from the same family as P. semilanceata. I was just wondering if someone with a bit more expertise in this field could give me a hand with an I.d. Just to note, all mushrooms have a separable gelatinous membrane. Cheers in advance

Well I have to say I am slightly shocked if these do indeed have a seperable gelitinous membrance cause they are the most similar lookalikeys I have ever set eyes on. It's easy to get complacent and all "expert" on your own ass but that has certainly made me think twice if not all boxes are ticked.
I was under the impression that liberty caps were pretty much unique in having a seperable gelatinous pellicle. They also have similar striations caused by the gills.
Frankly... a tad scary.

The Fly Agaric (left where they were) were magnificent though, whole walk worth it just for seeing those.
don't be disheartened from hunting libs youll find them eventually can I request some pics of the fly agaric please ,
Yep sure, I will find them and post them now. Got a close up and a view of a cluster of them if I remember right.
By the by, we've been on several more walks with an eye on the floor but seen nothing of interest to hunters in this thread. In fact mushroom population has gone significantly down, even in prime land. I wonder if the season in general is near to over or over here. Will walk the dog again later so we'll see but it's been barren this week/last weekend.
Did spot a bunch of four late teens/early twenties out hunting in hoodies in a nearby spot who seemed to have a bit of success and huddled round a few spots. Good luck to them, I hope they had success and the same fun I did at that age

Here you are. Lighting wasn't the best as in heavy woodland. First photo courtesy of my good lady, hence the vignette and so on.

Edit: just a few shots. There were at least twelve of these beauties laying around. After reading what they do I was very tempted to go back and get one just for the experience, but my partner's nervousness has put me off
Actually I have no idea if they've been made illegal like liberty caps so perhaps it's best they just stayed where they were!
