That was very kind of you to say. Thank you so much
And thanks again to everybody else. It was like I was on autopilot or something.
Anyhow, just wanted to put in down in text and read it all back to myself. Sort of weird head space to be in, but I think it'll help in the long run.

You're a good man shLong. A lot of people would've just kept on driving. It's normal to feel some type of way after witnessing something like that. Talk about it as much as you need to brother.

Thanks, buddy.
I don't know if many would drive on in that specific situation or not, but yeah, I would've stopped regardless.
Just a weird 13th date (estimate) situation to be in.

Since the man was out and snoring, typically, should he have been woken up like he was? (another person on scene after us did that and I wasn't sure)

First, good for you shLong for stopping. I hope what you experienced doesn't weigh too much on your mind. In reference to him snoring, it was most likely that he was actually experiencing respiratory failure. Was it a very gurgly snore? I would assume the crash knocked him unconscious, and most likely caused respiratory failure (pulmonary contusion / pulmonary laceration). It doesn't make sense he would fall asleep. CPR would not have helped in this situation had that been the case, and actually could hurt him even worse, considering potential internal injuries.

Thanks, Sheek.
Ty, no, it was as if he just fell asleep and was snoring. Undoubtedly he was KOed, but he sounds fine until the woman in the softball uniform came and woke him up and then left again leaving us to deal with his attempts of sitting up and his pain moans and so forth. I think I would've left him sleeping to be honest. Could've died without pain then, but at least he got to hear Katie talking to him as he went, or just before he left. Also, there wasn't going to be cpr, or at least by any civilian. He was trapped and his femur was gone.

shLong is one of those folks here that I could never say a bad thing about. Truly a stand up guy, and his post her proves it.
So shLong, ever think about taking a CPR class? Not saying it would of helped at all, just asking. I was certified through my work last November. Your story reminded me of the fact that if you give chest compressions on old people you will more than likely hear their ribs breaking. God that was a fucked up thing to be told. Then again... broken ribs vs dead.

I reallly feel for the lady, most likely his wife. He is in no pain anymore, but she probably lost someone she spent her whole life with - all within a few minutes. No time to even say things she might have wanted to.

word, brother. on friday i bought a round of shots for me & some friends and it was $33 bucks. a safe ride home from that bar is $20. it really puts things in perspective when you spend so much to have a good time, you should be willing to spend to get home safe as well.

My last CPR training was in 7th grade, like 18 years ago or whatever. Im sure the procedure has been altered since then.
Thanks again, everybody
