1st Casing

My cat is casing EQ's at 72F/ 90RH. The casing has 2" of birdseed substrate with 1" of casing material. The mycelium has been rapidly growing for 7 days but for some reason I have had to patch case twice since the third day because of my paranoia of overlay. She has yet to see any definitive pinning, seems to be non-stop vegetative growth. Is this normal? Should she initiate fruiting another way?

My casings also needed to be patched, but only once. I wouldn't recommend overhandling it, but that's just my opinion.
I cold-shocked my casings by placing in the frig for 24 hours. It works. Within 24 more hours they were pinning beautifully.

Are you fanning frequently? I assume they're getting a few hours of light a day, right?

yes....fanning 3 times a day, and indirect light is abundant.

Well, EQ usually pins for me within a few days, but it's not unusual for a casing to take up to two weeks or so. Keep fanning and misting. I think you'll see pins in another week or so.

My friend is fruiting some EQ's right now. His also had lots of fluffy growth that ran all over the casing, but when they finally pinned, WOO HOO! :thumbup:

ok....literally overnight I have some pinning. Now this is where I get confused.....do I let the mycellium overtake the top layer of the casing or do I patch case? Here is a pic

Once a casing starts to pin my friend leaves it alone, except for light misting, until the flush is finished.

This guy I know has had them casings pin in 4 days, and also in 2 weeks. Crazy.
