Okay, your point is reasonable and somewhat understandable.
However, I can't help but wonder if your opinion would be different, if the gender roles in this situation were reversed. Honestly.
A woman (who claims her husband has been regularly physically abusive toward her) gets into an argument with her husband. If there is a regular pattern of abuse, then this argument may be a part of that pattern, aka "the start." As in, an argument, which escalates in intensity, culminating in physical violence. So the argument begins, and in fear and anticipating violence, the woman decides she doesn't want to be a victim again this time and pulls out a gun. The husband goes for a knife. Fearing the husband will harm her with the knife, she fires and kills him, then goes a little loopy and makes a weird facebook post.
Would you find that situation any more understandable? And I hope you don't take offense to the question or the implication-- it's just that a lot of people, especially women, seem to lack understanding or sympathy when there is a situation where the female is the abuser. The man is even sometimes looked at with ridicule, as this kind of situation runs counter to our stereotypical gender roles. Men are supposed to be physically stronger, more dominant, more aggressive.
But as intelligent people, I think we both know that's not always the case. I honestly don't know what "the case" really was here. I don't have enough info to say, one way or the other. But I wouldn't automatically discount a man's story of abuse by his wife because he's a man. I haven't seen a picture of this guy yet, but looking at the pic above, this was not a tiny woman. Looks like she had some meat on her bones, and probably could have thrown a solid punch, I'd imagine. And she'd be doubly scary enraged, and holding a knife... particularly for someone whom she had gotten away with abusing in the past.
Just a thought....

Your argument would be valid, except said suspect was a fucking nutcase, which kind of invalidates most of his claims.

Somebody that is being abused does not pull a gun on their lover when they threaten to leave. If anything, those are the classic signs of him being an ABUSER, not the ABUSED.
