ok, I am a new student at the University of Georgia and Athens has treated me well so far apart from being away from my precious fields back home. However just a few minutes ago I was visiting a site of quasi-illegal nature...not that the site itself was but it was a counter-culture drug awareness page and guess what I discovered? Through a program that detects access to my computer I found the university didn't seem to like that page and not only did they try to access my internet activity from what I gather they actually got through. I am behind a medium security firewall that has never done me wrong....just a word to the wise and I suppose also a plea for help if anyone has any ideas for college students. this makes me feel horribly violated by this institution of higher learning and I now have reason to feel unsafe in my private actions here....sucks...well, stay safe kids

If they were in fact monitoring your internet activity your software firewall wouldn't see a damn thing. If you use a campus network they can see everything you do. I highly doubt they look or care however.
-------------------- "Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." - C.S. Lewis "I would rather be exposed to the inconveniencies attending too much liberty than to those attending too small a degree of it." - Thomas Jefferson
