what do you others use for browsing anonymous
    #18667169 - 08/06/13 08:03 AM (10 years, 9 months ago)

And I know this has nothing to do with cultivation but I did not see a category that this topic would fit into.

My question is since you cannot login to this website using the TOR browser, what do others use to remain anonymous on the web.

I have lots of pictures and ideas to discuss and share but I'm not going to do it on any easily traceable computer.

Post it in: Science and Technology

One of the ways is public proxy. Not the safest way, but more then nothing.

There is another board on security that this would be better benefited.  TOR and VPN's won't save you if they really want you.  Something along the way will expose you eventually.

I would if I could use tor, but this site won't allow me to login with a TOR browser

TOR is more like an intranet than internet.  But that's a whole long discussion.

TOR isn't even safe anymore.....the government specifically spies on people using it, and redirects a lot of their stuff to their own pages thru the browser.

This thread was moved from Mushroom Cultivation.

Reason:
Not a Cultivation topic.

I think there's a post number requirement before you're able to log in using Tor or other proxy. It might be 50 posts.

Tor right now can't be hacked except if you use a compromised site and your browser allows a certain exploit which was in older versions of ff but can't be done against the latest update. Nothing is for certain but tor is as close as you will get right now.

“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship.” (attributed to Alexis de Tocqueville political philosopher Circa 1835)

This is primarily true.  There are things though that can expose your identity through TOR - but that is user error.

In some form this is true. While not started entirely correct TOR itself can't be hacked to expose your identity.  What can happen is sites on the TOR network could be manipulated to expose you're identity. Check out the Orbot program,  without proper configuration any TOR client could cause an application that is not protected by TOR to give out your real IP address.

Yeah, he took the quote out of context deliberately. Proper configuration is very important.
