I tried rye berries. They worked great. Wbs seem to work just as good and it's more accessible to me

And all I do is Rye, thinking about trying WBS as amazon no longer has the 50 lb or 25 lb bags that are like 87cents a lb DELIVERED. Dropped 80 bucks on a bag off another site before I found some for 54. WBS is def cheaper. I think it is anyway.
WOAH, just checked and depending on what you get lb for lb rye is still cheaper at 80 US and to me just seems less work than wbs. Never done wbs so I have no idea. Maybe I do wbs, you do rye, and then we both see which one we think is easier after both being comfortable with our respective teks? How about a round of everyone trying something new, ooh that would be a good thread...the "it may not be new, but its new to me lets get to experimenting" thread.

I ended up having 2oz dried from the first flush. Don't really know how that happened, but they were definitely cracker dry. Second flush is on the way currently. Wish me luck!

It's ok...use our tax dollars to buy shit while you can...that shit won't be around this time next year if osama has anything to do with it.
Same for social security, health care, hope, etc.

i've used rye a couple times and i actually like it... i've done it a couple different ways i've done it the "right way", no rinse no soak no simmer, just no soak, just no rinse etc. i actually did several different grains one time side by side with a semi isolate to see what i could get away with. i really like wbs because it is so readily available, but i can get rye at the health food shop just down the road just a little more pricey. i just like changing things up every once in a while.

what i found with my experiment is popcorn is the easiest to get away with just pressure cooking but is probably the worst as spawn, wbs has to be rinsed, finch seed is a little more forgiving, straight millet clumps and rye was probably the best spawn while being forgiving. i would never recommend the no rinse no soak no simmer tek, just sharing what i found. water content can be easily thrown off if you don't get it just right as well leading to more problems than it's worth...

As opposed to what?
We pressure cook all grains exactly the same, @ 15psi for 90-120 minutes.
Not sure what u were getting at there.

with the no soak no simmer no rinse you just add water to the jars when you pressure cook, you don't soak the grains so all the water is absorbed during the pressure cook.

the popcorn was the cleanest i guess is what i was saying and the water content was perfect may have been another variable in the experiment not sure i did 6 jars of each and all the popcorn came out perfect except one that was really starchy

Hi All,
Thought I would stick my head in and say hello. I've been keeping up with this thread, even though it seems to kinda be off of Tbags process..lol. Anyway, my first mono crashed and burned of course, but I started fresh. Just felt like sharing progress so far...hoping the next mono try goes better for me.
This is some brf cakes I started out of boredom. Decided to try the little plastic containers. They seem to be going no where fast!

This is some WBS GT that I've about given up on...never seen anything colonize so slow...but no signs of contam yet, unless someone sees something I don't.

This is my WBS Z Strain. Just did the first shake yesterday, seems to be recovering well. Looking forward to doing G2G on it.

This is my WBS Creeper. Just did G2G on it 2 days ago and I can see signs of new growth. So, that's promising so far for a mono, I think.

This is my WBS Albino. Have done the G2G and feel like I might need to get some substrate ready this coming weekend for my mono. So far I am happy with it, smelled really good on the G2G, so I'm hopeful it might make it to produce.

Few other jars here and there I am playing with. Not giving up until I get a successful mono!!!

is that tape i see on the brf plastic cakes and did you use a verm layer? the other thing is and i don't know how much this mattered but when i use plastic containers like that i stagger them so that one is never directly sitting on the other to allow so GE, just a thought.

Hey Blue...I've missed you guys, but just had nothing to report/share while I waited for my next batches to get going.
Yes that's tape..but believe me it has nice holes in it. Yes, there is a verm layer and I just stacked them, easily, for picture sake...they are usually side by side.

ok good, i really like the little ziploc containers for brf. cheap easy to store and easy to recycle!!! and they are actually easier for me to find than the glass jars well of course unless it's fall when everyone is canning how big are the holes on the top i usually just pop a nail through the top and that is perfect no need for tape just the dry verm layer.
