when you upload pics there should be a little tick box that says something about rotating based on EXIF Data, uncheck it.

also, that verm wont do. it's made by a company owned by monsanto and thats not something you wanna be part of! Be a good person and get some different verm!!

So here is my update of my dub tub!

Pics taken at same time.

First bulk (though its just a mini tub - probably 12qt total). I did one like 8 years ago when i first joined and had no idea what i was doing. I spawned BRF cakes to corn cob chunks and it failed to colonize but i let it go until it molded and then felt sad. Tossed it in the backyard and that was that. Annually i see a mushroom pop up, but never took the time to ID it. That corn experience hurt me, until now.

I cant wait, guys! I'll be fruiting my 27qt mono as soon as i see a couple of knots. i have no holes in it and i might make some, but i really dont wanna convert my tub into a one trick pony. I might follow what this guy did.

Yeah, I couldn't find the bricks anywhere in my town (checked like 10 different places). I managed to find this in a local pet shop but that's all they had. I think I read somewhere that it works the same. Anyone have any experience with using loose coco coir instead of bricked?

It works fine, 8 quarts of loose coir is equal to one average sized brick.

It's just much more expensive than the compressed kind or I would use it all the time.

Yes, you can bump my old threads with a question.

Ah, well thanks for the knowledge about rotating the picture properly.

As for the verm, I have used that same kind for BRF cakes before and it seemed to work fine. What is the problem with using this brand of verm? Anyone else have experience using this particular brand?

Sorry for the double post.

That entire bag of coir is 8 quarts, meaning that it is the equivalent of one brick? Are the bricks really that compressed or am I missing something?

im sure it works fine its just the whole monsanto/GMO/ruining agriculture thing. use it, by all means. I'm just giving you a hard time. There are more 'ethical' brands out there and maybe next time you can consider it!

Anyways, thanks for the advice. I'll give it a go.

I have used the StaGreen Verm on all my BRF cakes and had no problems at all.  I have not used it in the substrate for a monotub, so maybe that's a difference.  But no issues for me so far.  I guess I am about to find out, because that is the verm I have for making my coir/verm substrate for my first upcoming monotub following tbag's tek....if he ever makes it back!

Hey Ang! How's my favorite NC girl tonight :-)
I was actually pretty disappointed with the pinset on that tub but they all turned out to be big healthy fruits so it worked out pretty good for me. That sta-green verm is my favorite. It seems to be the perfect size for mushroom cultivation. It works well for cakes and bulk
