Hi SgtGanja and welcome to the tbag grow along with the rest of us!
I am NOT the lead on this grow process, but just wanted to share that "my" seed stuck to the tops of the jars as well. I didn't worry about it....after my first shake at 50% they all went down where they were supposed to!
Best of luck and looking forward to seeing your progress! I too am several steps behind the original group on this, but I am doing it anyway and they have all been completely awesome...don't worry about being behind...we're doing it!

just wanted to add that 24 hours after my first shake it "appears" that my jars are off to a good recovery! I hope! Thought I would share a couple of pics and see what the consensus is! Thanks All!

Well I dont see pink birkenstocks that often, so I will now believe you are actually female.
The jars look good, the first 2 you could have pounded a little harder to pull out that bottom chunk but no need to worry now. Better to be cautious than to end up with a broken mason jar and a bloody hand.

LOL....I am most definitely female! Sorry for the shoes pic! If you could see the whole closet you would be shaking your head! Yes, I tried to loosen that bottom part but darnit it would not shake loose at all! I'm happy with the recovery so far cause you said if it took longer it might be a sign of contam. So, I have my g2g jars ready and am just waiting now for these to fully colonize! Thanks for the feedback...very much!!

Lol no need to be sorry, I'm a smart ass by nature. At the end of this thread, if I have any upload space left, I'll make a video to show you guys a super easy way to break up a grain jar with little force to no force.
Also have you visited the sexy ladies of the shroomery thread?

OMG please share more about the sexy ladies of the shroomery! I would be most interested...since of course I am a sexy lady and on the shroomery! But, anyway, not to hijack posting I actually have a question tbag!
In your original posting you listed oven roaster as an "optional" item. So, as I creep towards the pasteurization of my substrate as my g2g are colonizing..hope I am saying all that right, IF I don't have a oven roaster how do I get past that please? I have purchased the PC and a dehydrator in the last couple of weeks and funds are limited. I don't want to drop from the process but want to do it right! Advice please and thank you!

Yes there are options, when I go to fruit my tub I'm going to link back to the pasteurization post I made in this thread along with a link to Frank's thread using the stock pot or pc. Both methods are essentially the same minus the heat source. For his you'll need 2 things that are pretty cheap. 1 is a candy thermometer ($4 at Wal-Mart) and a meat thermometer. Either way will get the job done, both take several hours and still help reduce the risk of contamination.
Here is the sexy lady link. http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/17326319

You've made it this far you'll be fine. Pasteurization isn't difficult just time consuming. I use the roaster so I don't have to watch it. If time is an issue you might need to do it across the span of 2 days.

SgtGanja said: Hey all,
I know I am pretty far behind with this part of the process but I am not entirely sure about the moisture content of my jars. I pc'ed them today around 12 central time, and it seems as though there may be a bit too much moisture inside of my jars. What do you guys think? Do you think they are ready to be inoculated?
Pictures w/ and w/o flash.

Thanks!
You want to remove the foil right after you take them out of your PC. The filter you added to the lid is your safety from contams, the foil will only choke out your myc, and might hold moisture from the PC run that will make your filter wet.
Just thought I'd mention it as it wasn't said yet.

I don't take the foil off until after I put them in the SAB. No need to take the foil off until inoculation IMO

If you're efficient, and don't wait to long to g2g, I guess it doesn't matter either way If you're like me and it might take a couple days, I like to keep the foil off to keep from getting filter wet.

I do the opposite. I leave the foil on my lids till I put them in my SAB just like Pasty. Due to the amount of hobby work and my 9-5 I sometimes sterilize my grain a week in advance. The foil will help keep the moisture content in the jar as well as prevent dust and mold spores from collecting on your lid. If you're having problems with your filter media getting wet there may be some refinement needed in your method of PC'ing. The only time I get a wick effect with Poly is when I mix my agar- but i toss those lids anyway when Im done.
Just dont put that shit back on once you inoculate or grain to grain. Thats when it fucks with your gas exchange. If I left the foil off my lid right after a PC and didn't use my jar for a week then my grain would be too dry.
Srg - how did the inoculation go?

I leave my grain jars in the pc until I'm ready for them. I've left them in there a week before.

It went great! I aimed it towards one side of the jar and marked the inoculation point this time as well so I know where to look to for growth. Just get to stare at them for the next few days now while I wait for something to show up!

Alright screw it. I guess I'll jump on the bandwagon. When these jars of my clone finish colonizing that I g2g yesterday I guess I'll properly pasteurize my sub. Even though the bucket TEK has worked perfectly fine but what the hell everyone else is doing it. I might as well see what the big fuss is about. Plus I can't ignore peer pressure
